Thanks Terry. You're reinvited. I'll send you home with some empty Tunze salt buckets :)

 woot woot!

Terry- Basic photos are point and shoot. Macro shooting is totally different. I have so much respect for great photographers here on RC and other reefkeeping sites. The aquarium has to be one of the hardest things to shoot macros of. That is the fun of it ;)

Yeah, aquariums are very hard to shoot :( Looks like you got it down. Maybe I need to get a better camera, and take some classes....

Mark, I really like the new darker purple on the bonzai!!! Great picture!!!!

You've seen it, its the one right in front, dead center on the shelf. I just have figure out how to set my WB correctly; buy an expodisc.

Jim is going to hate me in 6 months. He has no clue about SPS corals, names, and all that goes along with it. He was over last week and I was talking about the sunset, the tubs horrida, the grafted simplex and I looked over at Jim and he looked totally lost.

Jim, spend some time here ;) Its my favorite forum.

Yup, no clue at all

I have a bad feeling this is going to be an expensive learning curve!!! :eek2:

So Mark, you're saying that if I buy a nice camera like you, it's point and shoot?

Jim - got room on the boat for another sps noob? :p I like em, but don't try to get me to name em!

When I want to take regular pictures. Lets say a photo of Emma, I set the camera on auto, press the button and and presto. There are many more features, but most cameras come with a DVD and directions.
I bought my camera is December. The first week was me just trying out some different things, but after the first month, I could see I was getting better. Heck, I even noticed something new as I was shooting today.

I am not very electronically competent. I bought the damn thing and as I started using it, I wanted to get better. There are many qualities/downfalls that I have and one of them is that I do not like to do things half way. That got me into a lot of trouble growing up, but it helped me excel on the soccer field and in the classroom. My addictions have switched and I am much happier with my vices now.

Life through the lens gives you a new perspective on details and background. I love looking at the background of aquarium photos and see yellowish or red sand. Taking a good picture is one thing, but processing the picture is just as important. I shoot everything in jpeg as I do not know how to process in raw. I would love to take a class because there is so much to learn.

I hate cameras/ terry trust me you have more skill than i do!

Marks photos are well kinda sickening, Definitely some of the best i have seen On RC for sure, If not the best!

Jim, Coral ID is a mother. There is just alot of corals that look so close to each other so its kinda hard. We should start a study group. Mark can take a bunch of pictures post there names on the back, we study them for a week and then meet at his house for a lesson

Zoos are just ridiculous, I'm so lost of them. There are maybe 3 i would want to keep. They are cool but so many look alike. Mark i believe has one. the PPE and had the Valentines day massacre before the little starfish thingys ate them:(

FTS!

Your fungia looks ridiculous! I've seen Rev's newly purchased fungia but man... that's ridiculous! I SO WANT ONE! :)

Jay- I posted a FTS yesterday. I am not giving my coral HGH like the europeans. They do not grow that much daily.

Thanks davey for the kind words, but if you want some great photos, look at Kinetic (Art), Ebn (eric), 143 Gadgets (Chris), twinreef (they are brothers and I never know which one is posting), Beakerbob (Bob) Naka (James) Makoj (Brian), 250 (Dave), Rev; just to name a few that I inspire to shoot like. Don't even get me started on Greg R or beerguy ;)

As you can tell, I contact these guys to learn how to get better

HGH? I've heard about that, and thought it was a joke. Is it real?

If you've heard about it, its real. I never though pig dewormer would be a must to keep corals for me either.

I've seen Art, Naka, Makoj, and twinreef's photos. They are all awesome. I need to check out the other ones, too.
