Chad,
Some people do use some a dechlorinator in their tank to help in their bioload when they are adding new fish. I use a product called cycle.

Chad/Mark,

Chris Chadwick (reefer334) advocates using an ammonia blocking product (like Amquel) in the bag for fish during acclimation. He states that the pH in the bag will drop during shipping and the ammonia will rise. From what I understand, the ammonia is less harmful with a low pH, but as you drip acclimate your fish with tank water, the pH will rise and the ammonia will become toxic and can cause gill burn and other problems. Using the Amquel binds the ammonia so that it doesn't become toxic during the pH change.

Pete,

That is exactly what I was trying to ask :D . I had read that on here somewhere and could'nt find it again. Thank You for the reply.

Thanks for the reply Mark, Is that chalice in the previous picture update a miami hurricane? I'm really starting to look at the chalice now. There are some really nice looking peices out there. I need to start saving for some.

Chad

Mark,

I just was going to check out LA's site to see what they had andnoticed the Joc. in the banner on their front page. I wonder if it is yours? Would be kind of cool

I am still a believer in slow acclimation drip. I use other products as well, but when it came dow to this fish, I did not feel comfortable enough to do anything except an extra long drip and then placing it in the specimen container so it could eat without being harassed.

If you are talking about the green chalice in the 1st page of this split, that is the OG mummy eye ;)

Hey Mark, what do you do for temperature regulation and oxygenation during a prolonged drip acclimation? This is a question I've been trying to figure out for myself for a while.

Pete, I do a bag acclimation for 30-60 minutes before I start the drip acclimation. When the weather is what it is now, I do not worry about the temp. During the winter, I keep more of an eye on it with a small thermometer and small heater.

Holy Cow, I missed the whole first page of updates. I just saw where someone linked on the last page. Wow, I need to keep up to speed a bit better.

Love whatever is in the first pic???

Looking good bro!!

I love the chromis shot :D You had to make sure they get their moment in the limelight

Thanks Jim.

The tank is rebounding quite nicley and some of the colors and growth are absurd. I am hoping to have some free time this weekend to fill up a few memory cards :p

like how the mystery is peeking out :D

How many HFW's do you have? Just the super male? One of my favorite fish.....I should try and do more to keep them in the tank :D I had a pair about a yr. ago and they both jumped....well I think maybe the mystery may of chased the female to the point of jumping. My tank is open top w/ euro bracing and I just hate to have a screen on top. Kind of reminds me of my dads' koi pond w/ all his ghetto gear to keep blue herons out....that's not even getting into all the plumbing and switching gear he has to divert water ;) . I guess what it amounts to is if the netting over the pond did'nt get them the plumbing would for sure
