Anyone want to help with a translation?

Link to Resif Bolgesi

I tried to run it through a couple different babelfish turkish translators, but it's just not able to handle it. Possible spelling errors or whatever causing bad translations.

Find someone who can translate turkish and your good to go!

Which ballasts do you run? I thought Radiums were good for up to about 12 months.

Who have you been talking to? I could brobably get a year out of them, but they might look more like a 10k when its all said and done. Its not like the bulbs just stop working; The blue spectrum is one of the first to gradually go. So, if that is the color you like, then 9 months is right around the time you notice the change. I run mine on Blue Waves.
Next week, the tank will have been up for 10 months, so the bulbs will be getting changed this weekend. I may leave two old ones and swap out two new ones and see if I can get a picture that will represent the difference. Who knows, maybe its just a figment of my imagination and I will not see a difference.

Thank you for your help. I wrote the article so I was trying to make sure they weren't talking trash

Hmmmm......maybe that's the difference between using HQI and e-ballasts. Perhaps the bulbs lose their blue spectrum faster b/c HQI ballasts tend to overdrive them more.

Definitely mirrors my experiences with the Radium 250's on HQI ballasts (PFO). I start noticing a color shift at around 8-9 months as well, and swap out bulbs at about the 9 month mark. I guess that's a little better than the 6 months for the 400 watt version on the HQI ballasts! :D

Thanks Perry for the feedback. Yep, If I was ever to run 400's, I think I would pass on the radiums and go with the helios.

Is this your EJMT on this logo, Mark?

Mark -

I just dug back in your thread to your tank stand building pictures. It looks like you don't have a center brace in the stand or is it just hidden behind the center door brace?

If you don't have a center brace, do you notice any rocking or deflection of the center beam?

I've been talking things through with a bunch of guys at work (we are a bunch of dorky engineers) and I think I'm leaning towards boards every 2 feed for stability....

not trying to hijack your thread just looking for a sanity check.

Wow, you are crazy to go through a few thousand posts :)

As for the stand, I did not add a center brace as seen here at the barebones

I did use 3/4' ply all the way around to provide stability and to sheer things up. The only thing I wish I would of done differently is to do the undercarriage differently between the ply under the stand here (painted white)

I have hardwood floors and the slight echo from return pump resounds through the house as there is too much empty space. I wish I would of used some more 2x4s or even some hilti expandable foam to help defend the sound.

I used to do a lot of metal stud and wood framing in my previous life and I can tell you, after looking over hundreds of TI blueprints, I've realized sometimes engineers have the tendacy to over build :lol2: j/k, thats what you guys do for a living. I though alot about a center brace but once I started screwing the ply 6 inches on center, I felt it was enough. I have not noticed any rocking or any other faults to this point. Let me know if this helps at all.

That was fun looking through the older pictures of when I was setting up the tank, but now I have to post more pictures :D

You know, I swear that I responded to this thread today, but I guess not.

Anyways, things are looking good Mark. Glad to hear your holidays went well. Everything went good here in TX (except one of my acans fell on my m. seratosa).

Have you every though of natural sunlight on your tank Mark?

Thanks Chris, I think that was Kenny's thread, but sometimes they all kind of blend together :)

I have not given much thought to natural sunilight other than what comes through the front windown during the spring and summer months. My house is not set up for that and that would take more work than its worth especially since I know we will be moving in a few years.

I think you are right. It's hard to remember when both you and Kenny keep throwing out so much eye candy. :)

I'd like to add more natural sunlight to my tank, but that means opening up a window every AM. My plan on my next tank will be 75% sunlight and 25% T5s.

I love your thread man!!!

Always so many nice crisp new pics! You'd never know you had ANY issues with your acros... never skipped a beat!

Love the article... err the pics at least.

Less electricity would be nice and if done right, I think some natural sunlight could really enhance the look of a tank, but for now, I'll keep trucking along with Halides and VHO's.

Thanks Austin. I have always been a person who has enjoyed a bit of eye candy as well; I just try to put enough in the thread so I don't forget to update it as well :p

Here is one of my favorite and most unique tank inhabitant. Even though it will pick up a monti frag once and awhile, its still on of my favs.
