Marks...Back to the Future..Reef Aquarium

looks great Mark!!!!! lets see some water in there already!!!!

Getting close, in the plumbing process, followed by scape...just waiting on some fed-ex-and UPS deliveries and the time to do the work.

I like kind of enjoy being methodical and knocking out each task as it gets closer to completion.

Where are the wires?

Looks like a way to provide power in a wifi way. That looks clean.

Nice, I didn't even notice the wire mold, looks fantastic! Just reminded me I have a piece left over that I can paint to match my wall and add it to my lights. On another note, I glued some less expensive stuff from lowes to the top of the rear frame to run power head cables so they don't dangle behind the tank. I cut them in 18 or so inch sections.

Thanks, besides hiding the wires going down the wall vertically, (with the product you suggested), I also cut pieces to cover the wires going from the light to the wall and used the 90 degree pieces to connect.

What do you think of using the product to cover the hanging cables?

I used the same product under the cabinet using 3M spray adhesive (spray outside of house then bring inside). Then I used this on the back since all my cables enter the stand on one end.

Then I used this under the stand in the dry area.

The issue is the adhesive it comes with is for a perfect dry room, so after a few weeks it will start to come off the wall, you might need some tiny screws which is why i went with the extra glue.

lookin good!!, hopefully you put the gate valves in the right direction... instead of left loosy righty tighty, mine were righty loosey lefty tighty. luckily i dry fit mine with teflon tape first, then a few days later, glue permanently. when is the wet test?

The gates are slip with unions on each side. I must of tested the valve positions a dozen times...lol.

I'm most nervous about the slip connections into the bulk heads underneath the tank.I just prefer threads in that area.

I have some minor plumbing to add, (should finish that tomorrow) Some final cleaning and I have another 50 lbs of rock coming and will be scaping over the next few days or so. Then the big water test. Do you general use salt water for the test or just fresh ro? I have the live Figi pink sand, so I guess that calls for salt water.

look at the valves on the gates, there is an O and a C with arrows. Not sure about others but i just went with tap water and scrubbed everything down and ran everything to get all the bit of everything out, then drained it and started the RO and added 1 bucket of salt straight to the tank since it was empty. Just add the "live" sand after the water test.

Good idea, I really want to test this out. tomorrow I'll fire it up...

Ah I understand now, I think I tried to imitate 4 different types and changed them all at one point or another

I'm still adjusting rock. It gets better as I go along. I'm also going for a more minimal/moderate amount of rock. I like the negative sand areas too.
