Stand meets sumpy...

Looking for opinions on general use pumps for circulation water in brute cans, circulating water to cook rock, moving new salt water to sump etc.

Is there a gold standard type pump you guys use?

Thanks!

I use the cobalt mj 1200s, but people use a lot of different pumps. I also use a cheap pond pump for pumping out of the can

Thanks for the opinion, I just found an old fountain pump and will clean it up and see how it works. I still need to buy something down the line.

This week on the build:

Orders two food grade 32 gallon Brute cans and lids.
Bought TSP and cleaned basement floor to prep for gray epoxy paint.
Bought a used mag 7 and two green Jager heaters from a guy in selling tons of stuff. Soaking them in vinegar baths.
Hope to meet with a friend this weekend and go over supplies for aquarium stand build.
Ordered GFI outlet for display tank wall.

nice progress, slow and steady gives you time to think and plan out. It will be tricky to find a pump with low power that can give you the 500 gph. The Reef Octopus HY16000 says it can do 1200 gph @ 11 ft head but that's at a cost of 250 watts. same as the Bluelines. I run a SpeedWave DC 10k with no issues so far, it's only been running 6 months though and the Waveline DC 12k was recently released which claims 3170 gph @ 0 ft head and a max height of 19.9 ft @170 watts.

As much as I want a dc pump, I'm concerned about it being rock solid. especially with the 10-11 ft of head. My gut and research has brought me to the 165 watt Sicce Syncra 12 High Flow Pump, 3200gph...

What do you think...

Hi Mark - l have two brand new Syncra HF 12s that I ended up not going with due to space under my cabinet if you're interested. They have only seen RO / Dl water. They do push a ton of water.

Still working on the RO/DI setup. Have a booster pump (Aquatec 8800) on the way. I think I've spent more money trying to make water than on my 180 gallon tank...

I will need to pump my RO water, after it loses its Co2 by sitting and bubbling back to the booster pump through the DI. Since it will use 1/4 inch tubing , what type pump is generally used for this narrow tubing?

Thanks...

Updated progress:

Installed electric outlets for basement sump and RO/DI area.

Another outlet and the RO/DI mounted. I now have all the parts to finish the RO/DI setup. Hope to be making water within a week. Waste water might be only issue.

I have decided to try a clean up some of the nasty scratches on my used sump. I just ordered the Novus stuff, just wasn't sure if its safe for inside the tank. Anyone know? Thanks...

Flushing the RO side! Making water!
Pressure with the booster is 90psi...I guess I will have to figure out how to dial the pump back.

Light number one...I think I burned my retinas...its a lot bigger and heavier than I thought. Evergrow 32" LED
