yes it will. mine did for years before i got rid of the clown.

Yes, mine did also for a year until I put in a RBTA and it decided to move residency.

But, there is a chance that the anemone will host the clowns.

While a Haddoni (( I am assuming that is the type of carpet )) isn't a natural host for a Maroon, there is a chance it could happen. But, given the stickiness of a healthy Haddoni, I would let the clown find it own its own.
