Maroon clown behavior???

My female maroon clownfish has been hosting a large bubble tip mushroom for about 2 months. all day everyday... Now it appears she is biting off pieces of the mushroom and taking it to the upper part of the tank where she considers it to be her "teritory" in tank. Anyone know what this means ? Or maybe what I can do to assist her? When she drops the piece of mushroom from her mouth it just falls to bottom of tank. So basically, she is accomplishing nothing. Help ????

can you move the mushroom so she stops damaging it? that is weird behavior. so the mushroom is her host, but the top of the tank is her teritory?

Yes. I have an emperor hang on filter in addition to my wet/dry. Since I put her in tank year and half ago behind the emperor is where she sleeps and stays most of day. Until I added baby maroon (male). She started hosting about three months ago on a bubble tip mushroom. I know it's odd. I have no clue what she is doing?

mmm.. not really sure what to look for. hes only been in the tank a few months. they both sleep in the nem, and they follow eachother everywhere. the juvi kisses her cheekspines alot and esp. right after lights off. she occasionally rushes him and makes him do the twitchy dance... but he was less than a half inch when i got him, and I dont think he could even be an actual male yet.

and my female is roughly 2 1/2 inches or so (without tail fin) and random information tells me shes to young to really lay eggs yet.

guess you dont really want to put a mushroom at the top of the tank anyway hu....

when i first got my female, she was tank bred. she would never move away from the powerhead at the top of my tank. she practically hosted it. My thought are since being tank bred, the pump was all she ever saw, so it was the natural place to be.
never ventured around the LR etc.
the minute i added a bta, instinct took over and she was in it in less than 5 minutes. never left it since
maybe yours is having a battle with itself. it seems it really wants to host somthing.

*lol* I just had a funny thought. maybe shes hosting the pump, and trying to feed it mushroom? j/k sorry :D

I have had great success with maroons hosting LTA and haitian anenomes. BTA's are reef safe yeah....

btas are reef safe to a point... when you first add them they are at theyre most non reef safe. i only say this because they will walk around until they find a spot they like. while walking they will sting corals that are in the way.

that would be about the worst that could happen
