Depending on the mantises personality. From what I've seen they are pretty agressive so I think it would live most of its natural life if the peacock was passive enough.

Dan

I would worry about the maroon picking on the mantis, they can be very aggressive. The maroon i have attacks my hand with hard bites that bring blood quit often.

I've been keeping large clowns with peacock mantis shrimp for over two years... (a blue-stripe, and cinnamon)

In one weeks time our 4 1/2 in. female O.S. killed a full grown Domino Damsel, Three Stripe Damsel and a Neon Dottyback.

I keep two yellow tail damsels with my 6" O.S. for quite a while now, and they live fine together. I think that the damsels are too fast for the mantis to catch so she doesn't even try. I would suspect the same for a clown fish, as long as it's a large enough one.

Maroon clown fish are mean! I was looking for a box that said "the clown will hurt the mantis". I am guessing if it is a large clown, then the mantis will not come out very often. And if its a smaller clown then it might get killed. In my opinion it is going to be very hard to pull off. If you are looking to add a fish or two, I would suggest a damsel. As you might already know they are cheap and fast. worst case scenario with the damsel is it becomes a lunch that cost a few bucks.

that you for everybodys responces and opinions.
I bought a Maroon clown yesterday.
everybody is well

the mantis still comes out and is active and the clown is out and about swimming everywhere except the mantis' cave (smart fishy)
