Maroon Clown

Setting up a FOWLR tank later this summer; toying with the idea of a Clown and Anenome. I like the Maroon Clown best for my tank as it will have some semi-aggressive fish in it if everything goes to plan. I will wait a few months after first fish are in before getting the anenome as I have read they should be introduced to well established systems only. So Maroon Clown and ? I have the choice of the following Anenomes at my lfs could you rate them in terms of suitability for the Maroon and ease of keeping for me.....

Atlantic
Curly Q
Lime Green Carpet
Long Tentacle Sand

This is exactly as they are listed on lfs website.....

Thanks
Craig

What? no Entacmaea quadricolor aka Bubble tip anemone? That is the maroons favorite anemone. In the books that is the only anemone they will use as a host ..but that isn't true .. They will use other anemones as a host. The bubble tip is the best to go with as a newbie in this hobby. They are the hardiest of the host anemones but still difficult to keep for some people. It is best you wait at least six months to get your tank mature enough to handle anemones. Please do plenty of research before you get your first anemone. good luck

i have 2 yellow striped maroons with a green bubble tip, AKA e. quadricolor(sp?). they love it. they actually killed the first one.

another important thing is make sure when you get a anemone, make sure it's larger than fish hosting it. the 2nd bta i got was 2 1/2 times the size of my maroons. they can be pretty rough with it.

The maroon natural host anemones are bta (Entacmacea quadricolor) and long tentacle (Macrodactyla doreensis). The bta is an easier anemone to keep if you prefer the long tentacle go for it. BTW bta's like to attach their foot in a rock crevice and the long tentacle prefer the to be in the sand in case you had preferance.

id get a BTA very easy or try to get a healthy haddoni carpet. lime green makes me wonder if the anemone is bleached which is not a good thing.

atlantic- not a natural host might host the clown but then you run the risk of the nem eating the clown, which couple happen immidiately or monthe/years down the road.

curly Q- again not a naturals host probably will be to small to host a clown.
