Maroun.c 390 G build thread

I keep rechecking this thread and your whole build is out of this world, Pure Class!!!
Congrats on one of the best scapes I've seen so far.
The Ceramics look amazing, and the middle Island is equally nice. How do you compare the structure of LR and Ceramics you got? Are they as porous as LR? how does the combination look in real life?
Is it my eyes or did the bridge in the middle island look purple and live when you were preparing it on the floor and then it looks white when in the tank???
Is it in freshwater or what caused it?
Can't wait for water day and your corals and fish going in.

Thanks for your kind words Fred.
Very Happy with the Ceramics. I think I couldn't achieve a similar structure without packing many rocks that would turn eventually into a detritus trap. Also the porosity of the product is excellent. They are definitly different than live rock or more exactl i don't think I could achieve a similar look with my rocks still eventually when they'll be fully covered with corals and coraline everything will blend in just the same with the only difference in the openness I get from ceramics as they're full of holes and hiding places for fish...
Good catch on the bridge, it came from my frag tank when we were fitting it outside the tank and was live then we noticed it had few patches of bubble algae. I didint want to take the risk and struggle with bubble algae so decided to bleach it and rinse it for ew days and then it went in.
More updates to come soon.

Time to Update this thread.

On Jan 3rd Filled up the tank with Pierres help (Big Thanks to Pierre) Had prepared around 270 G (1000L) of fresh mixed saltwater (mixed it for 2-3 weeks) The rest was collected from my frag tank and Pierres tank to help with Cycle.
Sump and water change tank had been running for more tan 2-3 months now with some of my fish in there.
Water came from the garage downstairs using an Iwaki pump. the flow was excellent and I thought it would cause a huge sandstorm but just by pointing the hose on a rock we didn't get any and water clarity was amazing during and directly post fill.

Couple of hours after fill up with 1 300W heater added to start heating the water. water was at 53 Degrees F (12 C)

2 days later water was only at 60 F (20C) so added 2 more heaters (total 800 W) and it only rose the water to 75F (24C) due to the coldwave we have the last two weeks. At least this was enough to start water circulation and mix water with water from sump where the fish are...

Water circulation started and luckily not a single leak.

On 6th Jan we had a very nice gathering to start the tank with all 4 reefers involved with this build and our wives for sure.
Big thanks for Pierre youssef and Rae for all the help so far. Without you guys this build wouldn't be fun at all!!!
with the presence of Raed the most fish addict between the 4 of us it wasn't allowed use nets on teh fish...so after I failed to catch them by hand it was up to the person against nets to do it, Weirdly it was a piece of cake for him!!!

At this stage we introduced:
1 Fire Shrimp
1 Red Head Solon fairy wrass (Cirrhilabrus solorensis)

The official startup had to wait till 15th of Jan till I trapped the Purplee tang in the frag tank so all tangs got introduced at the same time. At this time my helpers had to assist with the official startup of the tank.

Note the Fish friendly Scoop that I got :D

Yay water !! Tanks looking really good Maroun...can't wait to see it full of corals and fish !

Thanks Gimmito.
Already got some fish but the tank sure still looks very empty. the hyppo that looked big in my old 150g looks very tiny now!!! Can't wait to add some more fish but I'll just take it slow to allow the tank to cycle unless I get some really hard to skip deal...

Hi Maroun,
Great start :)
Nice to see your lil helpers are showing keen interest in adding the fishes. Starting them early and getting them interested is a good way to bring more tanks into the home. Rallying more support aids in easier negotiations with the wife for future upgrades lol :D

Tanks looking nice with the open look and so much room for the fish to swim about. Definately the setup has got a museum display feel to it.
Great work!! :)

Thanks.
I'm always happy when they help out with the tank or show interest this way its more of a family project. would definitly eb thrilled if they show interest in the hobby when they grow, my son is already asking for his own small tank to run...As for future upgrades I promised myself and the wife that there won't be any in the near future..

Looking very nice...... Well done man... can wait for more fishes and corals

Thanks Syed,
I don't foresee any fish or corals soon as I need to give the tank some time to cycle and I guess take it slow to avoid casualties... might start moving a few softies and LPs in 3-4 weeks time.
