MARS 2016 Club Meetings will be Bi-Monthly PLEASE VOTE on the DAY

Hello fellow ReefCentral Reefers. The MARS board has decided to go to BI-Monthly meetings in 2016. As of now it will be all EVEN months:

February
April
June
August
October
December


Please vote to help us decided if we will change the day of the week. I will make the poll status Hidden. If you do have comments please post them or PM me if you would like. We are still trying to find a more central location in Sacramento. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

David you and your wonderful wife are part of a very small group that have consistently attended meetings every month. For the past year plus.

Unfortunately, attendance at MARS monthly meetings is not what it used to be. The BOD have tried several things to promote and increase attendance however it has been stagnant at best. The BOD is very interested in any constructive criticism or suggestions from all Sacramento Region reefers on how we can improve attendance and make people WANT to come to a MARS meeting.

For now we have decided to go to BI-monthly meetings, but I ask PLEASE give me feedback or input about what you feel the BOD can do.

Starting with a day of the week change if that is the issue?

Changing the day would help Heather and I make it too. If the scheduled meetings were every other month, it would leave off months open for special occasions like frag swap or speakers that cant make a meeting but can make other day or times.

We did a survey about attendance about a year ago that Ann asked. There was a ton of options and suggestions that were mentioned. However, I don't recall any of the suggestions being looked into but again, I am not part of the BOD. But I do now that the suggestions that people had, I don't remember any of those suggestions being performed today.

Again, that I just my observation from my angle. However, i do understand why the BOD is doing it but that doesn't mean I have to agree Look into the above link and see the various suggestions people have. Even my wife has a suggestion and she isn't opinionated :ape:

I think having the meetings Bi-monthly are a great option. Saturday's are even better. I have not made a meeting in over a year or more because of the times and dates. I've wanted to be more involved but never could. I think a test run would be the best for now. I always been a proponent of moving to Saturday since I started with MARS. It gives people more of a chance to make the meetings

Tends to be an overwhelming trend towards Saturday. And no one wants to keep it on Friday. Interesting.

Thats our goal so far we have had an over whelming request for Saturday and Sunday and not a single person wants us to continue on Friday.

I totally agree with your second point. We may only have "scheduled meetings" every other month. But we will attempt to schedule swaps and other events on off months so we can fill in the calendar with an event every month if we can.

David as I have said before I greatly value you and your wife's opinion. Especially given you have shown up for every meeting every month for almost two years now.

I read through all the suggestions again. We have acted on most of them but not all of them. I will continue to pursue the rest of the suggestions. Please feel free to send more ideas my way as well.

I will be contacting Roundtable shortly to ask if we will be able to move to a Saturday time slot. I am not sure what there availability is yet. If anyone has any suggestions for a different location that is closer to downtown please let me or the rest of the BOD know about it.

Mid-afternoon would work better, since Thomas works on Saturday evenings. However yes, in that case we would both be able to attend with more regularity.
