Mars Aqua Chinese LED review (Ebay)

Not sure what you meant by this, most leds are in series ( Christmas lights) and removing one will kill all in the same circuit. I haven't checked the mars but I would imagine its the same.

My Mars appears to have a zener diode in parallel with each led. If you lose a led it shouldn't take out the string.

I just want to thank Isaacs55 for his visuals and videos on his mods on pages 11-13. I have had another brand Black Box for a few months now as my frag tank lights. they were ok but I never turned the white channel up very far because the red, green, and warm white (yellow) were both unappealing an algae growing magnets. I switched out all the red and green leds for blue and changed the warm white to all 20k. The finished results are so much more like my display tank colors. I am hoping that the corals will transition better from one tank to the other now. also I am able to raise the White channel up to a higher percentage and will maybe get more growth. Either way the tutorials were easy to follow and the links on the LEDs were also reliable and easy to buy from. Thanks again.

What OllieNZ and Dave on bass said. Shouldn't lose the string and thanks to Isaacs 55 for showing us how he did it.
Cheers, Ray

Posting here since this thread gets a lot of attention. Besides black box led's, any suggestions for something as supplement to 60 inch t5's on a 300? (6 or 8 bulb up in air.)

Since t5 just a supplement wondered if there is a straight strip or series of strips that would let me turn off T5's and enjoy the techno rave blues and still get some shimmer when all lights on. I miss my reefbreeders, but I prefer the old ones not v2 and old ones are "discontinued". I like the controller, but probably not needed since I'll have an RKL.

Also in the hybrid thread guys were starting to angle the led in from front towards center of tank. Think that's a good idea or just center among my t5? (300 deep dimension so a lot wider than normal.)

300 watt over my 40 breeder. That was this morning. The whites hadn't turned on yet, but so far I'm really impressed.

No, the 300 drives the fans from the driver boards like this:

In this image, the left fan is driven from driver "A". There are two more drivers at the other end of the enclosure labeled "C" & "D". I believe the other fan is driven by driver "D". That said, I've another enclosure with the drivers labeled "1-4", but I think you get the idea. Each driver operates 1/2 of either the blue or the "red/white/green/blue" channel.
Hope this helps. If you'd like more pics, let me know and I'll see if I can bust some time loose this weekend to pop the top off of one during cleaning.

Cheers,
Ray

Thanks Ray. I'm gonna be buying the 300 soon. I was just checking if the black box mod I posted a couple days ago would work with it

First off thank you to everyone on this thread whose contributed! I was up in the air about what lights to get for my 40b, T5 or LED. After reading this thread I went with the 300W and couldn't be happier!

Has anyone by any chance seen this unit mounted in a canopy? Trying to work out the best way to mount it whether its by using wood along the sides to hold it up or screwing it into a metal L channel. Thanks for the help!

@EGS25
I'm using pocket door rails and hardware for mine. Works great in a canopy and I can open the front and roll them out for cleaning.
Cheers,
Ray

Can you please verify which driver the fans run off of?
