Mars Aqua Chinese LED review (Ebay)

So I noticed some people removing the 2500k led in place for the 20k. I know you will get better colors but wouldn't you lose some growth because of it? Sacrificing color for growth???

Also, what brand led are you replacing them with and where you guys getting the from?

So I got my light and it seems pretty good so far but I'm curious, a lot of people like taking the lenses off for better blending of the LED's but my light has cutouts for each led on a metal bottom instead of a full sheet of acrylic. Will they even blend with that?

I have that fixture, the non timer version of the fixture and a mars fixture I plan on testing with a par meter this weekend and see what the differences are. I can tell you from a viewing standpoint the fixture you linked to is much better of a color vs mars. The mars fixture gets thrown off with the 3500k led's, so you have to keep the white dimmed quite a bit. The wellpar or wellpar timer version you linked leaves off the 3500k and added some violet and UV which imo is a smart thing to do.

That being said they can all grow sps just fine.
What's violet in this context, 405nm?
Thanks

Hi. Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere in this 69 page thread, but is anybody using one 300w unit on a standard 75 gallon (48x18) with lps and softies? Trying to decide between the one 300w or two 165w. I guess the two 165s would be suitable for SPS and avoid leds over the tank's center brace, but was thinking the spread on just one 300w may be OK if mounted at the right height and just supporting softies and LPS.

Thanks for any replies, John

My tank is still very new but I went with 2 x 165 watt units

Another question or 2?

1. can I daisy chain a 300 watt to a 165, and that 165 to another?

2. I'm making my 300w and 2 165w Apex 0-10v capable. Can I daisy chain the blue channel of all 3 lights to one variable speed port (#3 on my Apex) and all 3 of the white channels to variable speed port (#4) of my Apex? Or do I need to get an extra VDM port?

Can't help with the apex portion but I can daisy chain my two mars aquas together...id assume they can work in line with a 300

I am hoping to have a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft reef tank. In total with sump it was have 750 liters. As this will be my first attempt at saltwater I only want to keep beginner corals. My budget can only stretch to around £250 for lighting so was thinking of 3 of the 165W marsaqua. Will these do out of the box for beginner corals? I'm see some people have changed some LEDs on this thread. If they are ready to use out the box what suggestions of corals should I go for under these lights? I'm hoping to have the tank cycled and have 2 clown fish in there before I add any corals. Or should I add the coral before the clowns?

I'm hoping to eventually have these in the tank adding 1 a month or so:

Blue Surgeon Tang
Royal gramma
Fire Angel
Yellow tang

I will be running a skimmer and around 60kg of live rock.

I have the Mars Aqua 165w. I was thinking of swapping warm whites (basically yellows) and maybe some others on the white channel for some UV diodes (395nm).

Any thoughts? Idea is to get more 'pop' from the colours (and maybe better overall colouration) when the whites are on.

Please someone answer this for me and maybe explain...i have the old mars aqua 96 watt. It has the remote which will dimm lights and set different settings, 1 plug the listing said couldn't be on timer but isn't there a way to bypass the remote or someway to make a timer work... will a ramp work? I don't even know what a ramp does. I tried a few timers and the timer will turn the lights off but not back on. The timers work on other things. Please help...

I just ordered 4pcs of 165w, giving one to my friend.
I am currently running ATI Sunpower 6x54w for my 51x21x20.
Originally i bought just two but my wife told me to buy one more so i will not think of upgrade later.
Will it be overkill? Planning to start slowly and if too much using the middle one just as moon.
