MARS BAR & NVR

KMP got me thinkin'...

What if we partnered up with BAR and NVR (and who else?) on group buys? Has this been done? Is there a reason not to?

Seems like we could get critical mass on some of these deals that are sooo close, but sooo far.

Well the someone has to drive down to the bay area or they have to come up here.
Or we have to ship, and that ususally negates the savings.

I go to the Bay Area and would go just to geek on their stores. Also, there are a handful of members that regularly go back and forth to Fairfield. I am aware of at least one NVR member that regularly comes to Sactown.

Just a thought...

Other than the point you bring up is there anything else stopping us? I'd like to open up a couple existing GBs to see if we can break open the DEALS!

Dude go for it!!!
I invited them on my DI GB and not a single person from BAR was interested...
Not saying they never will be.. but just my exp...

might've just been bad timing?

I've suggested group buys and nobody else wanted in, but there were times I had like two dozen people get in on our group buys.

I'm sure if there's a need BAR people wouldn't mind jumping in on it. We just had a pretty nicely sized group buy for some ro/di stuff recently. In fact we've had two or three, so that may be why nobody bit the DI GB because we just had a few?

Sounds like a good idea as long as there is one pickup person for each club. Biggest problem with NVR though is most of the members aren't "online" types of people, but I'm sure there's a handfull who would be down for stuff like this.

Hey Kevin

Most of the MARS folks who run group do post them on the BAR and NVR forums too, & visa versa. Geography seems to be the limitation. Running a group buy usually it a bit of work. Having to haul the goods around to the other clubs tends to discourage volunteers from running group buys. Typically, it is a "if you want it come and get it" kinda deal. However, if you want to do that please do. It is a good way to meet members from the other regional clubs. I've gone to the bay area clubs to pick up things a few times myself.

You may not see much interest in group buys lately is because one of the current trends in BAR is to get away from the 'buying club' mindset which is also one of the reasons BAR started its own forum. :D

I bet its also because the very few group buys that we do, is on our private club forum, not the RC BAR one, so only members see that.

Nothing stopping you from posting on the RC bar forum, but just be aware they may not even be a BAR member. Good Luck.
