MARS Membership

I've gotten conflicting information on whether or not I can pick up MARS membership this month, pay my dues, and have the membership last until next December. Originally I heard that, no matter when you join in 2007, you have to pay full dues again January 2008. Now I've been told that if you join in December 2007, then you pay dues again December 2008.

So, which is it?

The authoritative answer is that your membership, if purchased in December 2007, will need to be renewed in January 2009. Period.

I'm not an officer of the club (yet). I'm running for election this month for secretary, to replace Kim, who is stepping down, so if elected membership will be one of my duties.

I am, however, well informed on this issue and can say without a doubt that memberships paid for in December 2007 will be good through the end of 2008.

Please make sure you register for an account on marineaquarist.org (the MARS website) prior to the meeting, otherwise there "may" be issues with processing your payment.

It wouldnt hurt either to offer a certain member cough me cough some frags in order to expedite this process, even though I have no authoritative power whatsoever!!!

I will say with 100% certainty if you pay at the meeting this month your membership will be good for a MINIMUM of at least 12 months. Since we already talked via pm, if I am wrong about my guarantee, I will buy you another membership personally.

FWIW-I agree with Paul and Pete, if you pay this month your membership expires in Dec 31, 2008.

FYI - Pete knows what he's talking about because he did the smart thing and sat in on the board meeting before running for he position.
