So yesterday I calked all the seams. Painted the inside white first with Kilz to seal it then with a white latex. I tried to stain a small patch with black/ebony stain and was not impressed with the look. So I decided to go with black paint in a satin finish. Today I will also add some polyurethane for extra protection. I had to send the canopy back for it to be modified with a front access door. It was simply too tall for me to get in and out of. And maintenance, adding livestock, etc.. Would have been a real PIA. So far I'm happy how its turning out :-)

Got the tank on the stand. Waiting to pick up my canopy on Sunday so I can paint it.
I had it modified with a access door on the front. He is also building a custom rack that my LED light fixture will sit in. Installed the standpipes and bulkheads and water tested the overflow area. Slight leak on the return but ok after a little adjustment. Cleaned out my sump and have it under the stand. Tomorrow I guess it's a run to Home Depot for drain line and some black paint to cover the overflow area. I tried dark tint but it looked like crap. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it filled with water, rock, and sand!

Don't remind me. I wish the cycling part went a little faster. I'm not a patient person. But this isn't my first rodeo. I'm trying not to rush it and do it all right.

Got it all set up and running! I think there's too much dry rock in the display. I might put some in the sump. Had a issue with the return bulkhead but I had a back up left in my plumbing supplies thank goodness! After sand and rock it took 48 gallons of water to fill up. Made measuring salt easy since I purchased a case of IO with 4-50# bags :-) its pretty clear surprisingly. I hope putting rock in the sump cuts down on the fountain/waterfall sound coming from the sump. The sump I'm using is temporary until I decide otherwise. I pick up the canopy tomorrow. I guess I will be painting it as soon as I get home. Still waiting for my light fixture to be shipped. I ordered from Reef Breeders a week ago. I heard they were slow shippers :(
Other than that I'm pretty happy so far :D

Where did you get the switchs at?, I like the look of that, very clean and in easy reach. Nice job!

Thanks! I got it from Dick at The Cultured Reef. He is located in Ft. Pierce. Makes maintenance so easy with just a flip of a switch! Lol

I got my canopy back and I started painting and staining. I love the custom rack he built into it that will hold my LED light fixture. I painted the inside of it white as well to help with light reflection and give it a clean look. I also redone the rock scape. I'm still not sure I'm 100% happy. But it will do for now.

I'm very jelous this tank is looking really nice and I do love thar switch panel. What type of leds are you planning on setting up?

I ordered the Photon Nova A4 from Reefbreeders. It has built in programming. I got a good deal on a group buy. This fixture is made specifically for 24-30" cubes.
