Hey everyone... it's been a long while for me and my wife regarding MASLAC.* But we're BACK!* Some people know why there was a break for awhile and we appreciate your consideration and condolences in our time of need. But we're re-energized and ready to roll out the red carpet to welcome anyone and everyone to come to the meetings. And we're starting it off right... Right in the backyard of Dave's house (02manyfish) and having a good ol backyard frag swap. On October 8th.* So come on out, bring your frags and a 6pack and enjoy. I'm working on a raffle that should be nice. As of right now I have a vertex 130i skimmer (new donated by vertex) and other smaller things and looking to get life stock as well. Possibly getting a package from Reef nutrition as well.* Per the rules I can't post Dave's address here but I will let him chime in and post it or send it via message. If anyone wants to donate frags or? To the raffle please let me know so I can add it to the list. Let's make this a welcome back for all of us and have a great time! If I can get enough people wanting to come I'll ask the wife if I can bbq for this event!

* Date,* October 8th
* Time, 4 pm till 7pm
* Location, Dave's house* (wait till he posts his address)

Back Yard Frag Swap!!!!

Back Yard Frag Swap!!!!

Wooo Hoo!!!

Whose ready for a fun afternoon chatting about corals. Sure there are big shows in air conditioned air plane hangers where you can walk past a bunch of tanks with over priced bits of color glowing under oversaturated blue cans of light. Each tank begging to empty your wallet or max out your credit card....

Or let's go old school. Hobbiest, hanging out with mostly other hobbiests. Talking about corals, sharing tales of woe and success, trading one piece of coral for another, or perhaps for a green back or two.

But it's fun! And it's social! And it's Free! -- Not many things in this hobby are all 3 of those.

So grab your tanks, bring an extension cord or two, break off a couple of pieces of something that's growing well in your tank and head to Encino on Saturday the 8th.

If you have nothing to trade, then come share your knowledge. If you have nothing to trade because you are new, then come take some knowledge.

And if you have the most killer corals in the world, something nobody else has ever seen the likes of.... well bring some of it. Maybe you will trade it, maybe you will sell it, or maybe you will give it away to someone you meet who has that burning desire to get swallowed up by this hobby as we all did when we started.

And yes there will be some vendors there, with their killer named frags, and there will be some people selling used equipment, and maybe some selling new equipment.

There will be food, there will be beverages, and there will be lots of fish talk.

If you go to only one Free Backyard Frag Swap this year, make sure o2manyfish's Back Yard swap is the one.

If you need the address, ask before the last minute.

This event is hosted by MASLAC (Marine Aquarium Society of Los Angeles) and o2manyfish.

You don't have to be a member of any club to attend, but you might be by the time you leave.

If you are a vendor, store, manufacturers rep, garage fragger -- you are welcome to attend - there is no charge - please just contact me first to work out details for the table setup.

Come one, Come All, Come Have Fun!

Dave B

PS - Plus you get to check out my coral system, including what might be the best collection of angels in a reef tank on the west coast.

I would love to hang out and talk shop. I have a small frag of red dragon and I can bring some fresh orange monti cap pieces?

I'll be there. Maybe I'll bring a few frags to trade/sell! Get I get a message with address please

Hey Reefers

Hey Reefers

Hey Reefers,

I could use some physical help with the Frag Swap on Saturday (please) :)

Over Labor Day Weekend I had a mishap and cracked 2 Ribs, and busted up my knee.

This limits my ability to do some heavy lifting, hauling, and pulling stuff off of high shelves.

If just a couple of people could volunteer to come over early on Saturday and a couple other people to stay after on Saturday to help me put out the tables, and extension cords and stuff and then clean up after the swap it would be greatly appreciated.

I would be happy to show my appreciation with some colorful corals (not just xenia).

If you can commit to a couple of hours before or after please post.

Thanks

Dave B
