Master Doc Skimmer 9440/9420

Roger,

I am looking at purchasing a Master Doc Skimmer 9420 or 9440 for my new tank.

For the required load, the tank is closer to the 9420. However, should I choose the 9440, can I downsize it if I don't need the extra capacity? Perhaps the only advantage of downsizing would be to save a little on power cost and not to overskim.

In looking at the manual on-line, it looks like I just use one hydofoamer plus change the outlet pipe to 9420.300 instead of 9440.300. Is this correct or is there and easier way? Does the 9440 box contain both outlet parts?

By the way, how are these new skimmers being received?

Thanks,
Greg

The 9420 and 9440 both contain all parts but the 9420 is short one pump, it would be better to get a 9420 and add a second pump later, the cost is the same. The skimmers are generally to new to have much feedback, early ones have had some minor problems with the needlewheels but it is an easy fix and generally I have heard positive feedback.
