Mate for C. interrupta

Please continue to support the "Fabio Project."
This is such a killer endeavor.
Would love to get to the $5,000 mark.

I don't care how many interrupta I had, it would be tough to let one go! But she is going top a great cause. Maybe you should be feeding her oysters to help get her in the "mood". Ok maybe that last suggestion was too much

Excellent news!!!

House of Fins- the killer fish store in Connecticut, that just hosted Koji for the day, has agreed to help me ship my bonded Flameback pair and a Joculator angel to Karen for the project!

Thanks HOF!

I am by no means trying to discourage people helping out Karen, I wish I had more to offer other then my donation, but out of curiosity do you have an adequate amount of tanks and setups to house all these wonderful angel pairs?
From my count you are going to have
Bandit pair
2x Interrupta pairs (soon)
joculator pair (soon)
flameback pair (soon)

Not too mention any other fish you might have that I am not aware about

Once all these pairs start spawning will you be able to care for all the larvae?

Bear in mind some of these fish will be kept together as, lol, that is typically the best way to get a hybrid....
the real question is, if it happens, what in the world will an interrupta x joc baby look like:bounce3::crazy1::bounce2:

Often the breeding tanks used are the same large plastic cylindrical tanks that many use to make their ro in and they allow a huge amount of gallons in a tight space...
There will be a few 150 tanks here when hof comes to take the fish out...
Will post pics.

Humaguy- That is good news and thank you to you and House of Fins! It's funny that we'll have two east coast joculators meeting up in Hawaii.

RayL- You are very practical and the space is something I'm working on. I have many tanks, (my husband calls me an aquariholic). I will most likely be finding homes for my Genicanthus watanabei and one of my latz that was my first born latz and now 3 years old. I am trying to keep all of the others including potters angels pairs, flame wrasse pairs, ventralis anthias pair, tinkers butterfly pairs, regal angel pair, clownfish pairs as well as the fish you listed. My broodstock tanks are mostly 60, 110 and 180 gallons (mostly from Craigs'list) and I can usually house 2 pair per larger tank.

In terms of time, my very supportive husband has agreed that I work 75% time at my regular job to give me more time with the larval fish rearing and I make up the difference in pay through sales of clownfish. I almost always wish I had more hours in the day and I like to keep busy and use every minute of the day productively. I feel I can be quite efficient, except at the computer:uhoh3: and that's something I'd better improve on to keep up with the blog I'm trying to put together for this project. I know, Practice makes perfect.

The broodstock fish spawn during different seasons and some have not spawned at all. There may be times when I have to choose which eggs/larvae to work with and some eggs will go to waste. I have been collaborating with researchers at U of Hawaii by giving them eggs for their research so that eggs are used as well as possible.

Feel free to ask anything! I want to be totally above board with all of you supporting this project. I owe it to you!:fish2:

Karen, I gotta ask about the watanabei. I remember hearing about that project briefly but would love to hear more about how many you ended up with and really any info you care to share would be interesting.

Great news abounds!

Well...Faith has turned into quite the miss piggy. I'm very confident that she's ready to be shipped so I guess we're just waiting for the permits to be approved.

I must warn everyone though, the longer Faith is with me...the more you guys risk not hearing from me anymore ;) Seriously though, although I would love to keep Faith as part of a trio, I know she's going to a great home and she'll be a part of something special for this hobby of ours.

So if our fish become mates what does that make us? LOL.

We are going to be driving up to CT on Friday, maybe we should just drop off Jaws there and have them ship together?

So happy to see this thread and read the recent news... as a longtime friend of Karen, and a past fish-donator :), I cannot say enough good things about Karen. As I said in my article on her latz linked earlier in the thread, she is such a cool and nice person, and has one heck of a blue thumb! Every time I go to Oahu she coordinates "fish nerd night" hosted at her and her husband's home... nothing is better than meeting up with the amazing hotbed of fishnerds that Oahu has, with a beautiful Oahu view to one side and spawning tanks of fish to the other, with a beer in one hand and a slice of pizza in the other...

Karen rocks!!!!!!:celeb1:
