Hi all .i recently purchased a small file fish that has now settled in well.i bought it to tackle the mojano problem I have.i have just returned from a four day trip to find he has put a dent in them.also he /she has decimated my pulsating Xenia colony .so just so u know these are firmly on the menu too.happy reefing.

...just got one last week, very tiny.So far has a good appetite for brine shrimp, and I hope it stays that way... First sign of trouble he is out of the DT.

My filefish wiped out my aiptasia problem, then went on to wipe out my red and green zoanthids. He hasn't bothered my pink zoanthids at all. Go figure.

Lucky here so far. Took care of what he was purchased for. Also took care of my zoa's. No big deal, he is staying. I like him.

Xenia - hasn't touched it. I'm glad too since I just put a frag in there about two weeks ago and it is doing well.

My Copperband is working my aptasia and mojano problem.
I think whether they start to eat coral or not depends on the size of the tank.

In a small tank, the population of pods, worms and other little sources of food can reproduce fast enough for one fish that also eats anemone. This way, the pests become treats for the fish, and not the only food source. Also, a nip at a large Xenia colony won't hurt if the coral can make up the loss just as fast.

I think it's a combination of tank size and feeding quantity & quality vs. the number of coral predators... Angels, butterflies, pipefish, wrasses...
