Obviously Mattmike never used that reactor since its a denitrator. If he really did use it as a denitrator he would of said "Works well in keeping Nitrates at or near zero" He probably bought it used cheap from another reefer, tried to used it himself as a Calcium Reactor, found out it was too hard to use since its a denitrator and tried to sell it to someone else for more than what he paid for

Yea there's always 2 sides to a story but in this case he was clearly at fault and totally lied. Looking at his original for sale thread he posted and what he actually shipped the buyer shows what a scam artist he really is. That thing he sent was far from being 4 months old and nothing close to what he described he was selling. Sending it with sulfur and water in it is just flat out stupid. He knew what he was doing from the get-go. It sucks for the buyer for sure. What a joke this fool is. No fair trial needed for him IMO. Pathetic.

I usually don't do this. But I've had some really negative interactions with Mattmike as well. His name is Matt and he is just a young collage kid that has no idea what he is doing. Apparently he uses his parents wholsale license from a non related business and now calls himself a wholesaler. Seems like he's burned bridges from just about everyone I've spoken to. I will have nothing to do with him again.

I have a feeling all this will come back around.

In his defense, he's young, this has been a life's lesson for him. Always be as upfront and honest as possible in your dealings with people especially when you are working through a public forum like RC and other sites like it. One bad choice (or several) can be your undoing. He's not only one that I have run into that has tried to make a business out of selling used equipment on this site that they claim to have out grown etc. He is just the only one that I have seen get such a public trashing.

For the buyer that got the bad deal, also a life lesson. ASK FOR A PICTURE OF THE ACTUAL ITEM YOU ARE BUYING!!!

I hope this thread hasn't soured people too much on buying equipment from others in the hobby who really do have nice equipment to pass on.

I see a lot of people taking out their hostility in this thread that haven't even met or dealt with this kid and are just fueling the fire. He is not a bad person.. just a young one that needs to learn about life.

I'm not taking out any anger and quite frankly I can careless who this "kid" is.

But after reading all the threads, it's really disappointing to see this happen to in this small community. It really isn't about learning life's lessons. It's about a <b>selfish and morally corrupt</b> person ripping off the person sitting next to him. "Learning to not lie" is a lesson almost everyone should have learned as a child, and if you didn't learn it after the 10th time, you will probably never learn. I'm sure he's an "okay" kid even though he will eat his McD on someone else's antique table. Unfortunately, he's just morally f'ed up.

I agree with trying to get a picture of the actual product in a for sale thread. But in this case, its pretty obvious that he blatantly lied about what he was selling. Its like me selling a civic and say just swap out the motor, change the rear differential, and all of the body pieces, then you'll have your S2000--they are both still Honda's!

That was totally f**ked up of him and to act like he did nothing wrong is just PATHETIC. He knew what was up. LAME. He's always selling stuff on RD and I think his a$$ should be banned in all forums possible. First he said he was a broke college student, new to the hobby, lookin for free hookups on corals but yet he started with a 180g and now he supposedly has a 300g which is stocked with pretty large colonies of some acans and other UGLY stuff he's trying to sell hahaha!!
