Matt's 5000ltr Display

Is it still filling?

Everything is going well...

I am exited to see this.... and it's not even my tank!:lol2:

I can only imagine how you must feel at the moment, congrats!

Hi Matt

Great to see the tank getting wet. Is this tap water to test your plumbing and seal on the glass front ? Or are you going for the big fill first time ?

Cheers Martin

Congratulations, Matt !!! :)

This build of yours has the variables/aspects to possibly become one of the great captive reef systems in the World.

Shoot me a PM when you return from vacation in the Maldives, lots to discuss !

But seriously, those photos made my week. I've been waiting a year and a half for them, since I started following Matts build. Congratulations Mate, it's a big step forward.

I think I am more relieved than excited. It has been such a large part of my life for the last couple of years that it was a huge relief to seethe water go in without any issues. Early on in this thread there were some doubts about the stand and whilst I was pretty confident with my workings out there was still that nagging doubt. The was no deflection on the stand nor the tank...it didnt even move a millimeter.

Hi Martin. Yeah this is just tap water. I have another two closed loops to go in the tank, feed pipe and webcam. I didnt want to progress too far without testing the glass' silicone seal and the tank itself. Now the leak test is done I can progress...given time ofcourse.

nice Exciting time :)

Exciting..and nervous!

Thanks elvischam

Thanks Coralreefdoc...thats a huge compliment indeed!..I dont go to Malidives until the beginning of Novemeber ( I think Dave M just got a little excited!)

I bet Matt just left the tap running while he goes on his trip. Maybe it will be filled when he gets back.

Ha. I was turning the tap on and off to coincide with my presence at home. I didnt like the idea of leaving the tap running whilst I was at work...I would estimate that it took a total of about 8-9 hours to fill via the hose pipe

But seriously, those photos made my week. I've been waiting a year and a half for them, since I started following Matts build. Congratulations Mate, it's a big step forward.

Thanks Hamish

Its gone well. Sorry for the delay with the update..work has occupied all of my time lately.

Here are some pics of the tank full...well, filled to just below the weir. I will leave it like this for the time being. I dont have time to work on the build at the moment and the longer I leave it full of water the more confident I will be that I wont have any issues when the tank is fully stocked.

Thanks for everyones comments...I really appreciate the compliments.

Good to see it fully filled with no problems. That we know of haha. It would have been a gut wrenching 8 or 9 hours. I am always scared that something could possibly fail when filling a tank and ive never had a tank this big haha

happy to see that you had no leaks.

can't wait to see your rock work, and your fish that you will be putting in.

sorry not sure why it posted twice
