Matt's 5000ltr Display

happy to see that you had no leaks.

can't wait to see your rock work, and your fish that you will be putting in.

Matt. I would be wary of high PO4 levels from the TapH20 building up/binding onto the inside panels, etc ...

While the levels of PO4 sequestered within the internal materials/components will likely be low there is not point, IMO, in starting out with elevated PO4 levels to any degree. I would suggest/recommend keeping the TapH20 in there only as long as you feel it is serving the purpose of confirming the integrity of the aquarium.

Personally, I dont let an "intentional" drop of TapH20 into my system(s), at any point during the lifetime of the aquarium/system, but then again Im a "special/different" breed of ReefKeeper :D

Thanks Guys

Coralreefdoc, I agree that I wouldnt want to introduce any po4 intentionally...or anything else in tap water. I am pretty lucky that my tds in tap water is pretty low (for the UK) at around 60-67 but I will still drain the tank once I am happy I have inspected it thoroughly for leaks and that the structure is sound.

Matt - CONGRATS on the leak test!!!!

 :bounce3:

That is a huge milestone in your project - so proud of you and elated for your accomplishments thus far. This is my favorite build, hands-down, and I feel the excitement all the way from here. Every time we fill up a big tank, there's that sensation of "Great God, that's a whole lot of _____" (water, weight, money, stuff that can go wrong, OCEAN!, etc.), and our tank is less than a quarter of the size of yours!!

GREAT JOB - can't wait to see the next chapters...

Awesome Matt, we have water, I bet you are over the moon buddy!
Will have to pop up and see this beast when you have your live stock in it, enjoy your holiday you lucky git lol you worked hard for it mate now you will start to enjoy and relax for once!

Have fun
Glen

Thanks Kovy

Hi mate!..how are you doing?..I am please to have water...I wish it was salted RODI though. The only downside of having water is that the tank looked smaller. It looked bigger once it was glassed and a uniform colour but adding water shrunk it again. I told Jan that I wished I had gone bigger but she gave me that look that told me I should shut up.

I had hoped to have time to scape and fill before going on holiday but that is looking very unlikely as I have so much work on. When I return I hope to get it scaped and finished and atleast cycling for xmas...I have been known to say that before though!
I hope you and the family are well

Yeah doing awesome buddy, little one is 9 months now growing fast, new extension on the house all moved into that, not done much on the tank and it has gone down hill a little, but done 500 gallons of water changes in the last 2 weeks so time to pick it up again! Have a great holiday mate I'm back to work in a weeks time!

A little more progress

I installed an underwater webcam and a feeding tube.

The feeding tube

The webcam

This pic shows how the webcam is clipped onto the tank so its easy to rotate and take off for cleaning

It still needs spraying...I cant live with the yellow

IMG_2218_zpsdfa5a203.jpg

The webcam connects to a wired repeater. This then connects wirelessly to my home router. There are a fair few cables unfortunately

IMG_2219_zps5ead8a88.jpg

The webcam has an array of led lights to keep the cool kids happy

IMG_2221_zps5646ba3f.jpg

I dont think I will have them switched on though as they will be an algae magnet

IMG_2220_zpsfd00b613.jpg

I finally got around to putting a radium on one of the 400w ballasts. The iphone didnt like this...it isnt this blue

Okay, so you've got the lights, the camera, we just need to see some action. No doubt you'll be bringing back some Maldavian blood fish, a Carpathian deathworm, and a Tartar blenny, maybe a scourge angel or two. When's Tank Day looking likely to occur?

Beautiful build, you are inspiration for all of us :). funny, i recently started 500l reef tank, ne to the hobby, and i`m already getting things in my head about build like this one..too addictive :)

Love it, only you Matt would have an illuminated underwater web cam!

Thanks Mike/Terry. I knew I wanted a webcam and this was the only one I could find for money I was willing to spend that meant it can be on all the time without the whole room being in view.

Is that from Ghost busters? I have about 5 more weeks of work/holiday before I can endeavour to finish the tank in earnest.

That cam is sweet!

Very nice!

Keep going :)

Thanks Guys

Lookin good man! I'm glad to see things are progressing. I'll be starting my build next month (finally!) so watching your progress has further motivated me to get my butt in gear! :-P I like the camera and am looking forward to seeing video from it :-)
