MAX anemone temp?

i have a european cube that is around 40 gallons that has a halide in it. however the fan design isnt very good. the tank sits close to 87 degrees if i leave the lights on all day. i do not want to have to buy a chiller and all i plan on putting in the tank once it cycles are either entacmaea quadricolor or macrodactyla doreensis

i have both in my 300 and the first to split or move onto something i can take out of the tank will end up in the cube if possible.

the tank is called a boyu hs-60 in case anyone wants to look it up.

I think most people would say max temp would be 84 degrees at the most, and only for short periods of time. You will need to find a way to bring the temp down to around 80-82. Try a seprate fan. need to watch for evap though.

good luck

I figured most people would say the normal tank parameters. But the reason I'm thinking higher is possible is because many anemones live in incredibly shallow lagoons or tidal areas that can be significantly warmer than deeper water. But on top of that I know a guy that his heater stuck on and he cooked all his fish, corals, and anemones

shallow lagoons or tidal areas are rich in O2. in your tank there is no way it has as much O2. I have lost a very beautifull Magnificient anemone due to a heat wave years back. if you love those animals enough, shell out the money for a chiller. rebuilding a crash or replacing that rare animal can potentially cost more time, headache and money than the cost of a chiller itself (and that is speaking based on personal experience).

been looking for a mag to replace the one i lost to this date it's already been 5 years. even if i found one that pretty, the chance of it survive is very very slim as they are very poor shipper, also, they aren't cheap.

It always nice to have room for error. 87 degree is too high if that is the best you can do. You should have it set up so that you can set the temp you want down to about 80 degree. If you want to keep it at 84, it is OK but if needed, you should be able to lower it.

Flying on edge is fun, but dangerous and reeftank that is on edge like that will not last long.

I have been keeping my anemone system at 76 thats where they were collected from
Where and why is everyone at 80 +
Is this the temp you found that works for you

The average temp for coral reefs worldwide is 82F. However, water temps can get up to 90F for brief periods on some reefs. This results in wide scale bleaching of corals and anemones. I would try to keep the tank more in the average reef range. A different lighting scheme, perhaps t-5 or LEDs, seems in order.
