Maxi in trouble... help!

Guys,

This morning I found my 2 week old 3" teardrop maxi with about 5 Nasirius snails on top of it.

It was complete closed with mucus stands running from it. I knocked off the snails and moved it up onto the rocks, but it hasn't opened at all today.

I just pulled it a few minutes ago and put it in a bowl with DT phyto... no reaction at all and the bottom of it seems to have withdrawn into the shell as well.

It doesnt seem to react at all... It was wide open and looking good yesterday...

Anything I can do for it? Is it dead? The crocea in my tank looks fine as do the sps and lps, and water params all look OK ph 8.2, 1.026 SG, 0 Amm/Nitrite/Nitrate, Ca 440, Mg 1300, PO4 0.1, Alk 8.3

Did the smell test. Still smells OK... It just looks terrible though.

Anything I could do for it? Or just wait it out?

I wouuldn't touch it. Leave it alone and see how it does. I've never been a fan of bowl feeding clams. It's just more stess then they need.

Well the shell has opened a bit, but the mantle is still completely in the shell...

I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign at this point.

...

Unfortunately, if Nassarius snails are swarming on it, it's probably a goner.

Just took a look in the tank and the scavengers are making a meal of the maxi...

I just hate when things die this quick... I can't believe it went from wide open and seamingly thriving to dead in about 24 hours

one thing about tridacna clams is that they would deteriorate slowly for days, even weeks, without showing any visual signs of stress sometimes.
