maxi jet wave maker or !

hey i have a 30g long i was wondering if it would be better to use a maxijet wave maker and mod the maxi jets so the flow either goes left or right when the wave maker kicks on or just going with the korilia power heads im gonna keep sps

Back and forth flow is generally better.

The Koralias still produce a laminar flow, it's just more "wide patterned". I'd compare a Koralia to a box fan and a Maxi-jet to an air chuck on an air compressor. Similar "cfm" but much more pressure on the MJ.

I own both Koralia and MJ. Koralias are nice, but they sometimes stick "off" after a power outage and have to be tickled to get re-started.


When you put the MJ's on a timer, you can get some nice and natural looking sway going.

He isn't talking about sureflow mods but cutting off the outlet to make a large opening. The pumps start in random ways so when you have two or more on a wave timer modded this way they make a random flow pattern. IME I would go with the maxijets on a wavetimer.

yea thats wat i want i want a nice genral flow i dont just want one direction of flow i had korilias before and realli didnt liek the fixed flow

I have a 2- k 2's and 1-k1 in my 40 and to get mixed flow I added a MJ1200 with a hydor FLO and it mixes it pretty good.
