maxi mini reproduction?

i have a purple/greem mini that appears to have "dropped" a baby. the baby is about the size of a dime, and the same color. it's about 3" away from the big one
is this how they reproduce?

Sometimes, yes. They can also spawn in the water column by sending out eggs and another sends out sperm.
