OK Lets try that again. Sorry about that!:)

First one is the ECO MOD with included prop:

Next is with the now famous dhnguyen Dumas 3004 prop/impellor mod in the ECO MOD shroud. No mater what I did I could not get the noise level down. Has anyone else tried this?

MJ MOD’s shroud with the Dumas prop. More water noise than anything.

i've only got a 75 but when I put the ecomod in my tank everything was leaning toward it because all the water was bouncing off the far wall and coming back toward the pump. i coudn't imagine how much it would be with the dumas prop!

oh c'mon guys. I have a 125g and I have 2 sureflows on Dumas 3004 props and I'm getting 2 more even :D

Granted I have a BB tank

haha...i've got about a 5" sandbed and only 4 or 5 sps. mostly zoos, yumas, and other softies! everything would look like it was in a hurricane!

ok im trying to figure out dhnguyen if the stock prop on the sureflow and eco mod is equivalant to the octura 1435(i think that was the number the brown prop) i currently have those props running and dont want to downsize my mj mods.let me know what u think.

I don't know about the eco mod but the stock prop on the sureflow is about the same as the Octura 1435. The stock prop is slightly larger in diameter but it has less pitch than the Octura so in the end they will produce about the same. Personally I think the Octura 1435 is better since the prop baldes are much more precise and sharper (meaning less resistance and drag)

Jay, great job. So you basically just cut off the plastic mold and glued the dumas prop on? So in your opinion is it a lot more flow? I have one eco and one sureflow in my 125g in opposite ends on opposite sides and i have to say, i don't think i want 2500gph blowing in my tank, there 's almost to much turbulence in my tank now. Around 4000gph right now and i think thats good. But a video would be cool. And thanks for the pics.

Luke,
since you have one of each, does the Sureflow flow just was good as the Eco?

They are pretty much equal in flow. If i were to get another.....i would get the eco from marinedepot and mount the mag's on the back. For 14.99 its hard to pass. But the sureflow does come with a mounting bracket.

Does the SureFlow have the same “Anti Reverse-Flow Technology” as the ECO Mod?

Jay

well i just got my sureflow in my 58g oceanic and holy cow i had to point the maxijet towards the back glass, the flow is very good, enough that 1 sureflow is good enough i have mostly lps and a few sps and alot of softies and i cant see myself adding another PH even if i was fully stocked with sps, the sandstorm would be insane, and the holder that it comes with , simply amazing cant beat it for $20.

also the sureflow will not spin backwards i dont know what they did but the prop is not fully attached to the magnet it actually swivels on the magnet i guess thats how they get it not to go backwards.

 guys that "anti-reverse flow technology" is nothing more than a tab on the shroud to stop the propeller when it spins in reverse and shoots out.

jmait769, i read that the sure flow needs to break in before the noise level is reduced maybe the eco need to have the same done to it. over all you can see and hear the diffence. i like running my two mod i dont have sand so that part doesnt bother me.

i have read a couple differnt ways of doing it one said to cut out this part and tose. one said to reuse.

either way will work. However, the simplest way to mod it is to leave it alone and just use the black vinyl tubing that came with the original Maxijet to connect the rigid tubing to the magnet--no cutting anything.

D.

make sense, and the reason one of mine works fine and one doesnt. i did it each way but didnt think of that till now. i have that part for the other and for that reason i am going to put it back.
