Maxspect LED owners!!!

No worries

No worries

Very easy in fact, well that's my experience.
And I'm far from an electrical engineer, I'm an artist so not even close ;).
I just removed almost all bue Leds and in one fixture already replaced them with white ones. Will do the same with the two remaining ones as soon as the new Leds will arrive.
If you are a bit handy and you think logically then it's just a question of taking your time.

If someone ordered the fixture and then wanted to upgrade to Crees for example, is it pretty simple or do you need to be an electrical engineer? I saw in some reviews they talk about how maxspect are easy to switch, well how easy?

Are we allowed to mention vendors here? I have a question about shipping fees (if they are free or not) about a particular vendor.

Now did you use the same white LEDs that came with the fixture or did you go with another brand?

Thank you for the response BTW.

I ordered their biggest model (230W) and the actual postage paid was a little less than $100 USD. However, the vendor could charge you a handling charge in addition to shipping cost. Anyway, anything more than $100 is too much, IMO.

Ok, thanks. I saw mention of "free" on the product page and didn't know if it was free or not. I wasn't seeing free when I was messing with the shopping cart, so I wanted to ask.

I tried to take pictures but I can't capture correctly the amount and colour of light.

But I don't know how some guys only turn the 30W leds a couple of hours per day, because if you use only the 3W leds... it's really far from enough.

For the moment I used the same white Leds, but I don't think the brand matters regarding the work. These Leds all have the same star shape and connection points.

My tank is a 92g 22" deep corner tank. I have 4x 30W in my 230W in two separate groups of light. The first two 30Ws stay on for 10 hours and the second two 30Ws stay on for 7 hours. In other word, I have all 4 30Ws on for 7 hours. All my corals are responding very well to the LED lights. Many new tips are coming out of my SPS near the top at about 6" below the water line. I won't worry too much about the 30Ws being too bright for your SPS.

Interesting cooling approach on the G2's. Instead of pulling air in from the side vents and exhausting out the top of the units, it appears pulling from the top of the unit and expelling the air through the side vents. Do fellow owners concur? I received my G2 160w's and appears to be the case.

Fans very quiet :) Have two G2 160w temporarily setup until I rework the permanent solution for the top of my tank. Running since Tuesday of this week and time has not drifted and both units reacting the same (This is a good thing!) ...

Couple of High/Low note worthy temperatures;

Only Moon lights on - 20c
Everything on (30w, 3w Blue & White) - 40c

I got my G2-160 today and I'm impressed and glad I went with the 160w over the 110w. The color isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it seems to be in the 12k range. I won't have it up and running for a month or so, I plan on getting an Elos Mini. I put it over one of my other tanks to see the color and I liked it, an nice crisp white, not yellow at all. With only the blues on it was INCREDIBLE!!! My corals were absolutely glowing, I have used VHO, PC, and T5 actinics throughout the years and they do not even compare to the colors my corals showed with the blue led's. No start up issues, no flickering, everything seems pretty good, but only time will tell, but for right now, I'm impressed.
