Maxspect LED owners!!!

I have a 30W that is supposed to be in the color range I am looking for - being built for me "more of a white with purple /blue hue" on the way to be for testing. Will keep you guys posted if it rocks or stinks. The only downside is they run around $45ea.

I received my backordered G2 160W a few days ago and the light looks amazing. However, I just realized today that there was no hanging kit in the box, just the two mounting rails. The description for this vendor said it included both the hanging kit and the rail mounting kit. Did other people get both kits?

They had put two other items I ordered in the same Maxspect box, and I'm wondering if they took out the hanging kit and forgot to put it back in. I'm checking with them on whether they made a mistake.

I don't mind buying a few parts from the hardware store, if it's mainly just attaching picture hanging wire, but I don't know if there's any nice attaching components to use.

Alternatively is there anyone here who is not planning on using their hanging kit? I don't have my tank yet and so it'll be a few weeks before I need to set up my light.

Mine came with both mounting rails and hanging kit. I believe they are supposed to come with both.

I actually just took a look at my hanging kit and it was missing one small piece that was one of four pieces that I needed to hang the light properly with the kit. I spoke with my contact and he said the manufacturer should be shipping it out to me and said I should hopefully receive it within a week. As a reference, I received the light in about a week from when he provided me a tracking number.

Fans very quiet :) Have two G2 160w temporarily setup until I rework the permanent solution for the top of my tank. Running since Tuesday of this week and time has not drifted and both units reacting the same (This is a good thing!) ...

Couple of High/Low note worthy temperatures;

Only Moon lights on - 20c
Everything on (30w, 3w Blue & White) - 40c
Thank you Lanshark
40°C is OK for power LED !

I got my G2-160 today and I'm impressed and glad I went with the 160w over the 110w. The color isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it seems to be in the 12k range. I won't have it up and running for a month or so, I plan on getting an Elos Mini. I put it over one of my other tanks to see the color and I liked it, an nice crisp white, not yellow at all. With only the blues on it was INCREDIBLE!!! My corals were absolutely glowing, I have used VHO, PC, and T5 actinics throughout the years and they do not even compare to the colors my corals showed with the blue led's. No start up issues, no flickering, everything seems pretty good, but only time will tell, but for right now, I'm impressed.
Hello,
If you have picture of the rendering, colors....

I ordered from LCK led and I received confirmation, but the site still shows the order as pending. Is this normal? It's been 10 business days since my order and still nothing. They are not answering my emails either. At least send me an email that it is backordered or something. I will give it till Monday and if there is no package by then I will call my credit card company. Anyone else have this problem?

I have had the same problem with LCK led. Average response time to an email is over a week. So far I've had two faulty units and am waiting on the third (working I hope). This is not LCK leds fault but the lack of comunication is.
The first unit was ordered on the 23rd of dec 09 and was sent to the wrong place before it arrived. It took several emails and weeks before I got the reply that the unit had first been sent to the wrong place. The status was listed as pending even after the unit arrived.
I have around 40 emails saved relating to this purchase.
They have honored the warranty and paid for the return postage but the lack of communication is unacceptable.

I only ordered two of those LED spotlights. I did not even get a Maxspect unit. I am glad to hear that it has probably shipped. Thanks. I do agree that it is bad CS.

Could anybody make recommendations for a tank that's 36"W x 15"D x 21"H wanting to keep anything frm acros to softes? Thanks.

Either a G2 170W or G2 230W will be perfect for your tank size. If you want to keep mostly acros, go with the 230W. 170W is more blue as it has a 1:1 ratio of white:blue vs 2.3:1 for the 230W. Good luck!

Hello,

I'll try to get you some pics, but I probably can't do that until Tuesday. Garage1217 put up a bunch of bics of the colors on page 2. I probably won't get better pics than his because I lost the battery charger for my camera, so all I can use right now is my phone, but it has a decent camera. I doubt I will be able to capture the colors put off by the blue led's, but I'll try. Garage said it best, "With all blue on, they turn your tank into the most amazing disco crazy thing you will ever see! Pics do not show it but everything looks like a hippies house with lots of black-light posters!"

Well got my 110's today. First the good. Only took two days to receive them via FedEx! Hook up one unit. Fired right up and looked better than I had hoped!!!

Now the BAD. The second unit controller is DOA. The lights come on the fixture, but that is it. No display or controls on the controller and the fan on the fixture is dead too.

I checked the fuse and it is good. I also cross connected the fixtures, controllers and cables to trouble shoot. Same problem every time. THE CONTROLLER IS DEAD!!!

Figures something would go wrong.

Any ideas??????

So i decided to open up the unit. i double checked all connections and sealed it back up. everything is working now!!! i'll post some pics shortly.

Good to hear that. Such a long journey from oversea is prone to make some connectors came loose. Yes, definitely some pics of your new toy. Before and after shots will be great!

all setup now. i love the look of the 110's. just the right amount of white and blue. the mounting rails are are the cheap side. but i guess you cant have everything =)

Hi all.

Im doing a 370g with a hight of 28", and im considering Maxpect for some power saving reasons and not to mention heat. And at the same time the G2V seem to give you more options regarding the visual light specter you desire.

Is there any one in here that have any experience with using Maxpect on tanks higher then 28"?
For this tank i assess the need of this light option to about 4 800x180x45 to fill the lenght and width 79"x39"x28"
Any comments on that sort of light settup is appreciated.

Regards
Tage

I have your typical 180g 6x2x2ft tank. What would you recommend for coverage? 2 230s or 3 maybe 4 160s? SPS midway to top of tank placement and a couple clams at the base.

Any problems with light intensity for maxima clams at 24" depth?

I don't mind a little darker sides so I was thinking the 2 230s would be alright, but I'm not sure if that is intense enough lighting for the clams.
