Maxspect LED owners!!!

i haven't contacted the person i purchased my lights through yet; however, no there are some led gurus on here so figured i'd aske the question first...

i have G2 110 and the white leds are not coming on. the only troubleshooting i know to do is; check connections (did that), check timer program (did that). the indicator light (on the controller) for the white leds is 'on' - but, as stated earlier, the white leds are not on. anyone have any ideas?

other info: my fan is working and I opened up the controller to look for any obvious disconnected wires, but didn't see any.

SO I have had my maxspects since the begining of January and I figured I would give a LONG UPDATE:
#1 about 2 months ago one of the power supplies stopped working (fixed by maxspect)
#2 30 days ago another power supply went bad this time the blues stopped working. Maxspect had me take pics of all the units i have so they could figure out what the problem is. They told me I have the first generation 110V units and I need to have the newer versions. So they sent me 3 new power supplies and that fixed the issue.
#3 Now Another power supply went dead. Maxspect says they will send a new one to me soon, but I look closer at the other units and during the day on 2 of them the fans will not increase speed to pull the heat from the units so the temp goes to 55 and 58.

I am awaiting to hear from maxspect on this new issue.

Gambit, Sorry to hear the problems that you have. Knock on wood, my G2 230W is still working okay since 3/19/10. Did you contact Maxspect directly or the online store where you bought your units regarding all these issues? It seems Maxspect is quite responsive to your problems.

Sorry to hear about all Your problems Gambit. I bought my light fixture used from fellow member here and so far so good.. no problems.. Kinda glad to see, they at least trying to help U and yup it is taking longer I am sure, due to distance. I can only say I feel U.. few years ago I bought VW and it was LEMON and I hated it and all the problems I had to go thru .. I thought I would never go back to VW but I am driving one now again and LOVE IT.. I just explained myself that I was the unlucky one with that one car and they can not be all that bad... GOOD LUCK and I hope they will resolve Your problems soon with Your light. Keep us posted.

I received the 3 units that I ordered yesterday. The transation is very smooth with good communications. The delivery time is very reasonable. The units are well packed and all work fine without any issues. I got a G2 160W-CREE. I thought it might not be blue enough to my liking after reading some of the posts about the XP-G white but to my surprise, with all the groups on it is even slightly bluer than the 400W radium on e-ballast which is running side by side with the maxspect. The light intensity is noticably lower than the 400W radium which is understandable. The cord that connect the driver/controller to the module is a little more than 6 feet which posts a challenge for me since I have a pennisular tank and need to run the wire over the top of the tank to reach the other end of the tank where the module is located (78" long tank). I ended up hanging the driver right next to the side of the tank. As far as the timer/controller goes, I wish the lights will not turn on automatically no matter what (day or night) when you power up the controller. It is not a major issue but I like to control my lighting with my AC3 so if the tank temp is too high, it will turn off the lights for me. But with the maxspect, if the temp is too high and the controller/driver gets turned off, and then the temp goes back down, it gets turned back on, all the lights will be on no matter what even the timer is supposed to be off.

Hi guy, I'm new here but had a few questions. I've got a 72"X24"x30" tank with 2 plastic cross braces on the top of the tank. Currently I've got a 2x250 watt MH fixture over the tank. I know that 3x250 is probably more what I need and am trying to decide between a MH fixture with those configurations vs the maxspect leds.

Would it be best to get three g2 160 watt fixtures or two g2 230 watt fixtures.

Also is it better to get the CREE upgrade vs the semi leds and what exactly are the benefits between the two, and do they justify the price difference to upgrade?

Does anyone else have a g1-60w? I notice that the blues on the unit are fairly dim in comparison to the whites. Where as the whites would practically blind you, the blues in comparison are a faint glow.

yes i have the G1 units, the whites will always be more prominate than the blues. Thats normal

also I will be getting new G2 units to replace my G1 units. Cannot wait to see the difference and praying no more issues.

BIG THUMBS UP for MAXSPECT customer service

Is there supposed to be two different sets of blues on the unit. I have two blues that are considerably dimmer than the other blues.

i.e. There's three rows of 6 LEDs

W = White
B = Bright blues
b = Dim blues.

I also have the G1-60W. Blue in general do not show as bright. I have a few red leds, and i'll tell you they can blind you. Don't get me wrong blues are bright but don't seem to shine as bright as the whites.

Those are "violet" leds. Suppose to be UV to help corals color up. They started putting the violet ones in when they started making the G2.

What model would be suitable for a 20 gallon mixed reef?

I would get the G2-110w, or if you plan on doing more sps then the G2-160w

has anyone taken new pictures of the leds under the hood. I was surprised to see they have "max-S" led stars now. Not really stars but squares.

I wondered when they switched over. My fixture is suppose to be the "G2.1" I have no idea how to verify this.

Anyone have pics of the G2 160W Cree?

I don't have a picture of the new cree light, but from what I understand only the white leds are now cree. You're paying upwards of +200 dollars for only the whites to be upgraded.

Seems kinda steep to me. Changing out about 14 leds should not cost an extra 200 dollars.
