Maxspect LED owners!!!

I also just had a fan fail. It took all of 5 minutes to swap it out...
  • Remove the 8 screws attaching the plastic top
  • Remove the 3 screws affixing the fan
  • Unplug and remove the fan
  • Reverse the steps to install the new fan - Be careful not to over-tighten the screws holding the clear plastic top or it will crack.

Did you have a replacement from Maxspect, or did you use a CPU fan?

I have just taken my Maxspect 2 110W out of the box, and am trying to peel off the so called protective coating. Tried everything, but can't seem to find an edge. I phoned up the UK distributor, and they said it was easy ? Any of you Guys any ideas how this can be peeled off any easier ? This is driving me nuts !!

Trouble with FinsReef??

Trouble with FinsReef??

:sad1:Anyone having any customer service issues with Fins Reef? The optics I ordered in NOVEMBER did not show when promised FedEx and seemed to have vanished in the USPS during the month of December, nowhere to be found. They promised to send it again last week February, but since no calls, no email ,no tracking numbers nothing!HELP! The original order from Hong Kong made it here quicker.... I just want my Optics!

I have had really good customer service with Fin's Reef. It's too bad what's going on, but I had 2 different packages (not from Fin's Reef) get lost in the mail in December and still haven't received them. I have no faith in FedEx, USPS, UPS, etc anymore.

ya just saw that

they should make the dimming feature controllable by a external controller...like my RKL :)

still looking for a group buy on these thing.... i want a 110 unit

Anyone know if the 60w units with the tank mount can be secured on the back of a 24gAP?
Worried that it will not mount properly and also if the arm extension is long enough to center the light since it does not look like it's adjustable.

pecan2phat,

the mount will push the light out 3.25 - 3.50" and i believe all the units are 7.25" wide (front to back) so bracket and light would extend out between 10.5" - 11". If I remember right the AP24 is 19.75" and I believe the rear chambers are 3 - 3.5". So that would put the back part of the light right where the rear chambers begin and put the light directly over your rocks assuming you have rocks on your back wall.

who has installed the optics on their lights? any pictures [and/or can you give me a reference point on this thread]? how do they compare - before and after?

You're welcome! I spend so much time figuring that kinda crap out; figured I'd save you some agony :D

I posted some direct before and after comparison pics on my tank earlier in the thread, along with some impressions.

In general, without the optics, there's a lot of side spillage, some of which is wasted, some of which reflects back off the sides of the tank to give a more even T5 light spread. With the optics, the light is more directional, resembles more the AI 40/70 deg optics, with more depth of shadows.
