Maxspect LED owners!!!

Any body got the new G3 maxspect if so how good are they I was looking at the G2 model but I was told that the G3 was coming out, so what are the difference between them both.....?

Also can any body tell me what would be ideal for 600x500x500 tank mainly keeping SPS!

Thank dan

Help! The cooling fan on my G2 maxspect 110 is not working. I've tried looking for a replacement fan at computer stores, but could not find one that has a 2 pin connector. Has anyone on here ever replaced the cooling fan? Let me know where I can order one. My maxspect is still under warranty. I bought this from Hong Kong before there were U.S. distributors. Who handles the warranty now? Thanks.

I din't think there will be a G3. The new light is the Mazarra and is very nice. The Mazarras just went on preorder, so no one has one yet (here in the US). If you want a G2, I would recommend the G2-160w or the 110w, depending on what corals you plan to keep.

I would try to get a hold of Brian at Finns reef. I ordered mine through a group buy more than 1.5 years ago, and he helped me out.

Thank you for your help. I tried calling FinsReef, but it went directly to voicemail. So, I sent Maxspect customer support in Hong Kong an email. They got back to me within 3 hours. A new fan is being shipped to me free of charge. I'm impressed with their service!

I agree. I had a few problems with my unit, and I went through both FinnsReef and MaxSpect to fix my unit, and both helped me out really quickly and were very easy to deal with. So far, I've been very impressed with thir customer service.

I´m setting up a 25x22x23 LxWxH tank should I go for 110w or 160 w. I´m afraid that light may be to blue for me with 160 or is that wrong.
How far over the tank should it be placed to light up the whole tank??

I plan to keep sps and lps

This tank is running two 160w g2 and everything is on.
The dimensions are 600mm x 1300mm and the lights are running lenghtways.
The water is around 500mm deep and the lights are around 125mm from the surface.

I hope this helps give you an idea of the colour and spread.

Do you have experinced any probs with them

The first unit was sent out faulty and the replacement never came( LCK led).
Eric at fish street sorted out a heavy discount on the next purchase and those two units have functioned well ever since.

The timers do tend to drift quite badly and I usually reset them every 3-4 months.

The fans are the loudest thing on my tank, but my tank is pretty quiet.

Looks good in the pic, how do you find the spread front to back with the 60cm width? I'm in the process of setting up a tank that is 140cm long, 60 wide and 45 high, and was thinking about how many of the 160w units I would need.

In respect to the OP I'm obligated to keep the thread on topic.

Photos of LED's and aesthetics, I can do.
For equipment related Q and A a PM is fine.

P.S. The water is very cloudy after fish feeding and a quick stir of some sand to feed the corals.

I've got to say I'm disheartened by the lack of photos by others.

Hey Rosscopeco, where did you get that nice sticker on your tank? I would want to get one too for my tank. People still don't get it that they shouldn't touch what is not theirs.

One thing is missing in this thread.
Peolpe experince over time with maxspect.
I would like to know how long you have had them over your tanks and if there have been any serious probs

Just realised this is the Maxspect thread. :debi:
I thought it was another one I'm subscribed to.

Please ignore the strange comments in the above posts.

These lights have been running 14 months now. No problems so far.

There is no sign of corrosion and all the LEDs are still working fine.
