Maxspect LED owners!!!

Took me over 10 hours to get it fix. Sometimes being very modular is very troublesome. Here you go...

1 LED module. Robust built and modular for multiple setup combination. 1 single unit consists of 16 LEDs in 4 x 4 configuration.
3 types of lens provided - 40, 70 and 100 degree.
Optional fan for active cooling (included).
Electricity consumption is 60w and the power output is equivalent to 250W Metal Halide.

Hanging kit. Different type of mounting kit available to suit your tank setup.

Cable cannot be hidden. This is the best I could do to make it looks neat. Clips are provided but not sufficient (2 per LED module). I am using zip tie to hold all the cable in place.

Controller unit. This is optional and need to be purchased separately. Controller will provide more functions and able to communicate up to 16 modules via wireless connection. However, this unit need to be connected to one of the module via "Y" cable for power source.
User is still able to adjust the brightness of the LED without this controller by dimming via the LED module itself.

I can't seem to find much review on this unit so I am thinking maybe I could start one :)

Is anyone else here having trouble with support from Brian at Finns Reef?? I have been trying to get something addressed with him since the beginning of August. I did speak with him once, had email contact from him once, did as he asked at the end of August, no nothing.

I have a G2-110W and it is starting to fail. The fan is going, I have 3-4 (depending on the day and it's not consistent) blue LED that are not functioning properly and 1-2 (also depending on the day) white LED that are not functioning in addition to failed moon lights. My fixture is less than a year old. Overall I was satisfied with the fixture, fut for what I paid for it compared to other LED fixtures now available, I'm growing more upset by the day that I can't get a response from Brian.

Does anyone have any ideas for me??

EDIT:
After nearly 30 days, I have finally received response from Brian. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I receive replacement parts this week. I will keep you all posted.

I promised an update and it's been just over a week and I have yet to receive anything from Brian. I have however been in contact with Maxspect direct in China. They provided excellent customer service and have shipped replacement components so I can repair my fixture. I received my tracking number today and expect to see the parts on Monday. I'm very satisfied with their response time and found it very encouraging.

I'm pleased to hear this! It's great news. I do have questions though. Will you be able to offer support to current Maxspect owners? Will parts be available for all lines of fixtures? Will any parts be stocked in the US?

Congratulations on your distributorship. I look forward to hearing more.

Has anyone tried the 30watt blue semiLED replacement LED? I saw that aquashoponline.com has them and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

Considering between AI and maxspect and have been concerned reading the customer service issues. Keep us informed on how the CS is after the change to coralvue

Coralvue has been great about following up on CS issues I had even though they were not involved at the time at which I was having the issues. I went directly to Maxspect in China and Coralvue has been in contact with me since that time ensuring that I was taken care of. I would have no reservations with Maxspect given the recent experience i had with coralvue.

I returned my maxspect mazarras due to the lack in customer service and overall lack build quality from the first shipment of black units. Maybe they will get better in time but I'm glad I got my money back.

previous post regarding Brian Edwards and Finsreef NOT fulfilling my order for lighting placed on June 21st, 2011 to current, and his advising that I should contact his lawyer regarding all things Maxspect, even if he didn't ship goods.

I have been advised to post only the facts, so will refer to another post showing documentation and correspondence regarding issues with dealing with this potential Class H felony / theft case Article 16, statute 14 70 in the state of North Carolina derived by dealing with Brian Edwards of Finsreef and the current / future ordering of Maxspect lighting from Brian Edwards of Finsreef.

I should also state this has nothing to do with Maxspect, rather a simple vendor / customer issue.
End of the day, I'm trying to help others out so they don't end up in the same situation of having to contact lawyers. I also posted some useful links such as the North Carolina attorney General's office. if you have other questions on how I'm handling this matter, please feel free to PM me.

Glad I started looking this up again, need to contact Coralvue. I had some problems pop up with mine a couple months ago, and have been running with one of the 2x30w driver modules removed since then. Guess I'll contact Coralvue regarding the problem now.

One of these days I'm going to have to re-read this whole thing, as I'm considering some color changes on my G2-160's. They sure throw a lot of light, but the colors just don't pop for me. Could also be my biopellets too.

I had issues before but maxspect always gave me excellent customer service as did fins reef. So far I havent had any more issues with my g2s. Im sure coralvue will be quick with warranty issues also.

Well, finally got my new driver module for my G2-160 about a week ago. Contacted Coralvue, and they forwarded the info to Maxpect, who shipped it straight from China with a 30w LED unit for good measure. The good news is that the control unit now works fine, but that LED unit still has no 30w firing in it. So I have a bit more digging to do still. I'm just glad I'm running a mostly LPS/softie tank.

Now for a bit of a long-term report of the durability / technical side of the units, since I've had them running for just shy of a year now. And I have some serious critiques about them.

First off is that all of the spade connectors on the 30w LED's in both units are just plain roasted, we're talking burned to a crisp. I opted to solder the wires straight to the tabs instead. I also don't like how they left the long tabs on them, which risk grounding out to the heatsink. I cut off the excess.

UV 3w units are also showing a tinge of brown on the LED chip as well as the connectors, and one of them is dead. So they are also seeing a bit too much heat. All of the blue/white LED's are just fine though.

The edges of the LED units are no longer black, the UV light being reflected off the water has bleached a fair amount of the lower edges to a silvery/brass color. Not a functional issue at all, and I don't care because mine are under a hood.... but something to keep in mind for those who have them exposed.

Given the amount of reflected light, I'm tempted to paint the inside of my canopy white, which should re-reflect all the light back down into the tank.

I did take some photos while I had it apart, but don't have the memory card with me right now. I'll upload them later.
