Maxspect Razor

Lights have been over the tank about three weeks now.
Although these pics are a little blue this Tenius has in fact coloured up. This was browned out. The tips are now turning blue.

This milli is now darker. The tips have growth! Tips are actually bright blue in person.

New Aussie has bleached! The tips used to be very bright green! I have now lowered light intensity!

This coral continues to grow and colour up well. Just like any lighting, some corals will respond to it well and others won't. We need to remember that. Same occurrence happened with the halide!

What settings are your A/B combo?

Dd anyone have problems with the hanging kit? The screws I got wont get past the heat sink vents to go through the hole to the bottom side of the fixture. I think I'm looking at the diagram right but this is not making sense.

Mike,
Not yet. Still kicken around the idea of T5's too. But I will probably go with the Razor. I really love it from what you have shown so far and what I have seen on youtube.
IF I GO T5'S IT WILL BE THE RAZOR. I have not purchased my lights yet as I just spent almost 300.00 on the granit bar that goes around the tank. I had to have it bullnosed so the plywood supporting it underneath does not show.
This way it will be plenty strong when it's leaned on. I am still working on the stand too. And plumbing.
I hope it turns out nice! Oh also, looks like no one has the Razor 120 watt 16K in stock!

T5s do work. I had them in my larger tank. You cannot beat the shimmer from the LED and the different colour options with out having to change the bulbs! With T5 you'll have to change every 8-10 months. Just not worth it!
Take a pic and post when you have a moment..

The heat sink is also threaded..

Finally got my lights in (16k 160w). I have them hanging roughly 8" above water line and getting good spread, but dang I put these lights starting off at 45% and corals looked good for a day and then started losing Polyp extension. im slowly acclimating them to this new fixture. adding 5% to each bank every day, hoping to not stress corals out more. This light pushes great shimmer and great color compared to t5. Im getting no washed out colors whatsoever. Its nice and crisp! will keep everyone updated as time goes on.

I guess there's a few of us now who has this simple light! I guess not to many ppl complaining as there really isn't anything to complain about just yet.

SO COME ON GUYS, START POSTING SOME PICTURES!!

this is to mike or anyone who has seen the razor in person, i have a tank that measures 28"L x 18"W x 18"H and im really interested in the razor. i'm thinking of getting the 160W because i want to make sure that i have an even spread and plenty of power. i dont mind having to turn down the fixture (i'd rather dim than not have enough). so will the 160W be way too much or should i save a few bucks and go with the 120W?

Go with the 27". At least, you can use the light for an upgrade down the road and make sure you have enough coverage now...

Good Morning Mike,
I will post some pics when I get it mounted and looking right. I have not even had a chance yet to mount it.
Mike, are your corals popping better with the Razor then when you had T5's ? I know the shimmer is awesome with the LED's. A friend brought over a few Kessils. I was amazed at how blue they where, yet did not wash out any of the yellows and reds. Very nice indeed.
So far the Razor looks to be awesome and the price is very affordable

Good Morning to you too.
It's a totally different look. They definitely pop better. I found with the T5 corals were washed out. The Blue Plus ati just washed everything out.

Mike,
Thanks for the info! Still leaning toward the Razor. I guess a few years and it will pay for 50% of the purchase price. No bulb replacment and a bit lower on the electric bill.
How are your corals looking? Are they darkening at all after cutting back on light run time?
Seems there is certainly a learning curve with the LED's! Your my LED professor!LOL!

berbotty.
Please do post some pics! We would love to see some pics! Glad to hear you really like your new light. Thats awesome man!

Can you guys post the time profiles you're using? I'm having trouble finding one I like.

1-10:00 a 0% b 0%
2-12:00 a 28 % 35%
3-14:00 a 44% b 60%
4-18:00 a 44% b 60%
5-20:00 a 0% b 35%
6-22:00 a 0% b 0%
Im still slowly acclimating but this is going to be my light sequence.
Im a night owl so I like the lights to come on later and stay on passed dark.
I like daylight for ramping and during sunset ramping down the day light to keep blue lights on for actinic lighting. personal taste.

Mike,
How are the corals looking? Any noticable changes from this past week? Just curious as to how it's going!
I got my plumbing mocked up finally on the tank. I just need to fill it with water for a mock up run and see how it does. Hoping to work on the stand later today.....

Mine did the same thing . What is brilliant about this light is how wide the spectrum is, you can at some points just change the dials 2 or 3 % and get totally different colors
