This type of coral should have more growth but with the new light it's just starting to take off.

Mike,
Are you happy with the coverage you are getting over your tank? I am building the same dimension tank. Sounds like you are still happy with the fixture. Thanks.

I saw one of these over the weekend at a LFS. I really liked it. I think the maxspect rep was there promoting it....for anyone in Phoenix...the store was Aquatouch. They have one over a small ADA tank and a bowfront....probably 90gal or something....I didn't ask. The unit had the three sets of LED's though.

I was really impressed with how sleek it looked and tank just popped. Although I do seem to remember being able to see different colored shafts of light from the individual LED's shimmering, is this the "disco" effect I read about? Also, it appeared to spotlight (best description I can come up with) the rock and corals.

I liked it though and I am considering purchasing one. I currently have a 36" Current Outer Orbit 2X96w dual actinic with 150w HQI MH with a Ushio 16k bulb. My tank is undergoing restoration and modification (50gal seaclear sys ii for those who have seen my mod thread in the DIY forum)

I have a brochure if anyone would like me to scan it and post....not that you cant find the MFR website with the same info.

Hey guys,

Really loving the look of this unit for the price (here in Aus it's a little more expensive, but so is most equipment).

I have a 8x2x2 filled with mostly flubber and plan to keep the odd LPS.

What size and how many Razor's do you think I would need? If it makes a difference I have euro brace with 2 added cross braces, making 3 "holes" on the top.

Most current TJ is here in Aus - My 8 x2 x2
Thanks in Advance.

Adam

Mike,
Wow! The corals look great! Reef a Palooza tomorrow. I think I am going. Hoping to see one there in person maybe!
I will be working on the stand tomorrow! HA!

Thank you Mike

Not sure what colored shafts you were referring to. There's only whites and blues that blend into each other. You must be looking at a different unit. No disco ball effect here. There is also no spotlighting...

Corals are really doing well. I am really surprised at what this light can do. I have one milli that's not happy. Could be something totally unrelated. Have fun tomorrow.

I think the whole layout of the Razor plays a huge role in its effectiveness as well! Seems the 3 puck layout is excellent and spaced out very well. PRetty excited to get mine.
Thanks Mike for the great updates and input!

I use 3x 27" units one my 8 foot tank

you can see pics above in the thread

Finally got around to getting back through the thread and checking it out.

Great pics which show me exactly what I needed to see.

I do have a couple of questions if I could htough please

1) Is your tank 8x2x2? If not, how deep (top to bottom) and how wide (from to back) is it?
2) I notice a couple of dark spots on the back wall. What intesnsity were the lights at when the photo was taken and are the shadows as noticable in real life or is it just the camera making them look worse?

Thanks again - great to see them hanging over a tank similar size to mine.

Its just the photos .. there are no darkspots or shadows at all !

Does anyone know where I could pick up a 27" 16K model from a reputable retailer? The ones I normally buy from are out of stock for another month of so.

Thanks!
