Maxspect Razor

Height from tank surface

Height from tank surface

I'll be hanging Maxspect razor over my tank.

Tank 48x15x20 or 20 inch high with alot of sps frags.

SPS arranged mid level as my LR landscape are only stock up to mid level. I do not arrange my LR high up to the tank. SPS also centered in the tank to be expose to the LED lighting. I like the Island style layout.

A=0 B=0
A=0 B=45
A=60 B=80
A= 50 B=70
A=0 B=0

What is the recommended height the LED should be hanging from the surface of the tank? I will hanging it instead of using the bracket. Don't mind that there will be some dark areas at the ends, understand that the 27 in LED will not cover whole tank.

I'd suggest around 10" above the water - you'll get a little better spread at that height for the large footprint. Not sure how long you're settings are for each of the intensities you list, but they seem pretty conservative. Probably could bump them up some with no ill effects. Good luck!

Thanks, I try 10", I want try theses first and bump up gradually.

Mine is hung at 10" above the water line and I get good coverage at that height for my 36" tank. I am also starting at 60%/80% at peak and have been running for a week or two, all looks good.

So they just attach to the Brace in the Middle.

Hmmmm. I might have to get 2 of these for my 55 Gallon now.

Thank you for the picture.

yup, rest on center brace. My tank is 120g 4feet long.

2 for your 55 will be more than enough.I also love 16k color (i came from 14k MH phonix bulb).

I have a tank on the way now, 24 x 24 x 20. Will one 20.5" unit be enough hung over the tank? (Please say yes, please say yes)

Yes you might need to hang it 10 inches or more to get the spread you need.

Would that be okay (hanging that height), as far as amount of light reaching the tank? Going with the 27" model would cover side to side (actually would be over 1.5" on each side which might look bad) but I'd still have the front to back coverage be the same, right?

Just received my razor today and was wondering if you guy's are keeping the shield over the fan on the top of the unit on or should i take it off...

I have owned the razor for a few months now. I can clearly say WOW! My corals actually look damn good. A few months ago everything was pale, brown or sad from my previous Chinese led setup.
