MDL and MD !!!!!!

I have had the unfortunate experience of ordering from marinedepotlive.com and marine depot and will NEVER utilize either again. I ordered a protein skimmer and an ro/di unit from marine depot, both were broken on arrival with no damage to the shipping boxes (broken by staff) I ordered a Black Volitans Lionfish and they sent me a RED!! 6 phone calls, 8 emails, 6 photos emailed later, they still blew me off. THESE GUYS SUCK!!! do yourselves a favor and buy your stuff from reputable people. All my gear is going to come from Champion Lighting from now on. As far as livestock goes, it is a total gamble with marinedepotlive.com what they will send you. Beware!!! these guys are LOSERS!!!!

HI,

I apologize about your current experience with us. Please be aware that all products shipped from Marine Depot are new and unused. All packages are also shipped with insurance so any breakage is covered. If you received damaged merchandise please provide us with the details so we can send out new items to you. You can email or PM us your information so we can process the follow up.

Our warehouse staff takes great care in packaging all orders that get sent out of our warehouse and I can assure you that we rarely get any damaged packages. Contents of a package can also be damaged even if there are no obvious damages to the outside of the box, especially when they are acrylic/plastic like a skimmer or RO system. This usually happens when a package is dropped or if too much weight is placed on top of it.

I have also emailed Marine Depot Live and they are researching this for you. I suggest giving Robert a call directly and he will be sure to remedy the situation for you.

Hi Brett,

After doing further research, I have found that Marine Depot has sent you the replacement parts for the damaged items you received. It looks like Marine Depot has already replaced any damaged items you received at no additional cost to you and we have done so at your first call to us. Any allegations you have of our staff damaging the products before it was sent to you is false. A damaged collection cup on a Remora skimmer is the most common item to incur any damage on the rare occassion that the package is dropped.

Also it appears that Robert from Marine Depot Livehas been working with you on your lionfish and has already offered to reship another fish at no expense. This was all before you posted here on RC. I honestly do not get the point that you are trying to make since we are working with you on getting the situation fixed.

The point is that I ordered twice from Marine Depot, both times, the order was damaged PRIOR to shipping!!! There was no damage to the boxes. Replacement parts were sent, delaying the use of the equipment by over a week!! the point is that the items were received damaged, and NOT by the shipping company. As far as Robert at MDL working with me on the Lionfish goes, he's the one who's been giving me the runaround, My tank is only large enough for 4 Lionfish, MDL screwed up and sent a Red when I ordered and paid for a Black, now I have 2 Reds, what am I supposed to do with this fish? MDL won't take it back, I can't find anybody near me to take it, so you tell me what I should do with this fish!!?? should I destroy it so I can have the centerpiece fish I ordered in the first place??!! that's why I say, MD and MDL both suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that's and understatement.

Petmylionfish, sorry to hear that you felt we were trying to give you the run around. It certainly was not our intention. All we wanted to establish was that we did indeed send the wrong specimen. Unfortunately, we do have those out there that are unscrupulous and try to get free fish. We had requested that one of the photos contain all four lions in it so that we could see this clearly. I know you did your best and even though two of the lions in your tank were behind a rock (we could only see their fins) we were willing to reship a new specimen to you at no charge and cover the cost of the shipping as well (as per my e-mail this morning). If you like I would be more than glad to give you a call so that we can get this matter straightened away as soon as possible. Please let me know as customer satisfaction is very important to us at Marine Depot and Marine Depot Live.

Thanks in advance,
Robert Keowen

Kudos to MD and MDL for taking care of the situation. Petmylionfish, I like many others are wondering how you were able to determine the dry goods you ordered were damaged "PRIOR" to shipping.

I watch a lot of CSI and still cannot figure out how you were able to find the MD staff guilty of trashing your goods "PRIOR" to shipment. The "no damage to the boxes" is an unacceptable answer for me.

Good luck with champion, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a pretty safe bet you have not done a search on them. They like all the other companies have their problems from time to time.

Discotoo, you don't have to be a CSI investigator to see that if a box shows up at your doorstep with NO damage but the items inside are badly broken (twice!!!) that it didn't happen in shipment. As far as MDL offering to reship the fish, I have yet to hear of what I'm supposed to do with the wrong fish they shipped??? Trust me, I'm not trying to get a free fish, I stated that I will ship him back to you if you like, I just don't want to destroy him for no reason!!! It's obvious MDL isn't going to do anything about this other than offering to ship another fish which I don't have room for now thanks to their total incompetence. I just want everyone to think long and hard before ordering from Marine Depot or Marine Depot Live, we as consumers are able to make choices based on our experiences and the experiences of others and I will forever advise fellow keepers to avoid these rejects like the plague!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MD and MDL YOU SUCK!!!! I am done bantering and debating with you, sending you picture after pictutre, phone call after phone call, email after email, and being acused of trying to get a free fish even though I paid you $75 for a fish I could have bought locally for $29, since you fraudulantly shipped me the WRONG fish!!!!!! You guys should be truly ashamed!! you are unethical, uncaring, and a detriment to marine fishkeeping.

IMO, This is an inappropriate post. petmylionfish, you don't know the root cause, only the results. You may guess at the root cause, but at this point you are making unsubstantiated accusations.

What motivation might MD have to send out a broken or wrong order? They have nothing to gain and the extra cost of re-shipping the proper order and their good reputation to lose.

True, but you have to understand that the way you put it, simply makes no sense whatsoever. You are trying to convince the masses that Mr. Shipping guy at MD destroyed your goods prior to shipment. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t care what the box looks like, your story sounds a bit off as does your posts here.

Now that we determined there is a conspiracy against you, what to do about the fish.....Lets see, You cannot find anyone to take the fish off your hands? No Stores? No other hobbyists? Letââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s assume that NO ONE is willing to take this fish off your hands for free. What do you want to MDL to do about it? What would make you happy?

Instead of posting a ridiculous rant here, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s pretty obvious they are trying pretty hard to work with you. Why donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t you simply tell them what you want? I am willing to bet the cost of the fish and shipping to you that they will give you what you want provided you ask in a mature way.

This is the internet, just as it is easy for you to announce
we as consumers are able to make choices based on our experiences and the experiences of others and I will forever advise fellow keepers to avoid these rejects like the plague!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say the same to all vendors/sponsors in avoiding you. Obviously making a rant as such
You guys should be truly ashamed!! You are unethical, uncaring, and a detriment to marine fishkeeping.
based on the sole fact of them sending you the wrong fish clearly displays how unethical you are.

4 lions in one tank. How big is your tank, think before answering this question. REALLY think about it before you answer it.

Well, I'm glad to see the MD and MDL employees are posting responses here!! Look, bottom line is there's nothing that can be done now. I just wished I had known how awful the incompetent, color blind retards at MDL were before I ordered. Maybe my post will help someone else from ending up the same way I have. The simple fact of this whole ordeal is I ordered and paid for a BLACK fish, I received a common red, what is so confusing about this, if you want to see his picture go to the Grimreefers forum and look under the Lionfish section. If you guys love MDL so much, by all means deal with them! I on the other hand won't have anything to do with them ever again, and will advise evryone thinking about ordering from them to use someone else!! I have ordered alot of equipment from other places such as Champion Lighting and have been nothing short of amazed at how great they are compared to the dilrods at MD. Peace, I'm out, my blood pressure can't handle even thinking about these rejects anymore.

Brett,

I do not understand why you are making any of the statements you have made. We have offered our help to you and resolved your other issues, specifically with Marine Depot. We take pride in what we do and your name calling really offends us. We did not provoke any name calling and have been nothing but patient with you. The employees here at Marine Depot and Marine Depot Live are well equiped to handle any request you may have.

Marine Deopt Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marine Deopt Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marine Deopt Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have ordered from Marine Depot many times and they have been great. They have the best customer service anywhere and they are very friendly and do a great job. They have always sent me the correct items in full working order in the correct time frame according to the shipping I selected. I am very confident when I order from them and I know that I will get good quality things at a reasonable price. Also that it will be the correct item and if not they will promptly take care if it. I have never had any problems with them. I have gotten follow up emails after my orders and every one has been very helpful. Marine Depot is a great place and I will continue to give them my business and send everyone I meet there. I know a lot of other people who feel the same way. WE LOVE MARINE DEPOT!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm glad to see the MD and MDL employees are posting responses here!!

Yeah Ben and Robert are trying to help you out, considering it is their job to assist you when you post in their forum, but you just don't get it...or do you?
Look, bottom line is there's nothing that can be done now.

Yes there is...but you choose to sit here and argue rather than take it up with them.
I just wished I had known how awful the incompetent, color blind retards at MDL were before I ordered.
ROFL...now I have a better idea as to why they might not be working with you.
The simple fact of this whole ordeal is I ordered and paid for a BLACK fish, I received a common red
Research a little further, and you will find out that the color is not what makes the species of this fish.
I have ordered alot of equipment from other places such as Champion Lighting and have been nothing short of amazed at how great they are compared to the dilrods at MD.

If you had such great luck with them, why did you bother dealing with MD?
The employees here at Marine Depot and Marine Depot Live are well equipped to handle any request you may have.

Well said Ben. You see, they are ready to satisfy you, but you rather hide behind your keyboard.
Peace, I'm out, my blood pressure can't handle even thinking about these rejects anymore.

Yeah...you said this already, but you keep coming back for more. So I'll say it again, stop wasting your energy here, call them up and get what you want out of them.
And answer my question...WHAT SIZE IS YOUR TANK.

I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR MARINE DEPOT LIVE THEY HAVE ALWAYS WORKED WITH ME IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM SO PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM RUIN IT FOR OTHERS MARINE DEPOT LIVE HAS ALWAYS DONE ME RIGHT AND I HAVE SPENT a lot OF MONEY WITH THEM!KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love / Hate MD / MDL

Love / Hate MD / MDL

Well now this be a pickle...
I ordered 85lbs of Fiji Prem LR from MDL, a few months ago, it arrived, LATE, do to shipping and weather issues, I was told. Blame MDL or blame the LR Farmer in Fiji? Although I was very upset that the rock was almost 2 weeks late, we managed to work out a deal, and I am to have $20 in MDL Credit to use. (It better be there to use too!)

As for MD, I ordered a very high class PFO/IceCap custom made 48" MH / VHO Hood... As per there site 5 to 10 days lead time... OK... Well I got my hood (a fine hood and I love the thing) in about 20 days (10 days late). E-mails, resolve this issue do to delays by IceCap and PFO... Blame MD or IceCap or PFO? In any case the shipment was upgraded to 2nd Day Air (from WA to PA) and all worked out well.

So I give them a 50/50 ratting right at this moment, and will continue to shop with them, simply because they have the best selection I've found for very specific equipment.
