I went in to caesar's today and saw the announcement for a meeting april 3rd for aquarium reef club or something, with a discussion on nano reefs and discounts on coral, etc. Sounds cool to me just was wondering if anyone else was going or heard about it? =)

Yea James was In my shop yesterday and was telling me about it sounds like fun. Only problem is I dont think they will have beer. It just isnt a reef meeting without beer!

And food, no meal, no deal:lol:
Just kidding James, we can throw a few fish on the hibachi

Am sure you can sneak in some alcohol in the parking lot ... lol j/k

This is cool, I like this idea alot. Finally

I hope that Ceasar will also frag up some fine corals for the swap and side trade cuz I do have pink lemonaide and other rare stuff to trade *wink wink*

James,

How about some clarification. Is there another reef tank club in the area? is this an open invitation to anyone interested?

Thanks Bob

just to be clear ...This is NOT a North Coasst Reefers meeting. Our meeting times and dates have not changed.

James, forget my last question :D I found the answer myself lol. it looks like Ceasar is trying to reach out to its customer base which is cool. The internet bussiness is hurting local bussinesses so Cesar should be more proactive. I like to support it if Ceasar continue to support our club like they have in the past.

It would have been very cool for this first event or future event to invite the Northcoast club so that Ceasar will be able to meet all the members and see what we are about and maybe Ceasar can make some adjustment in their marketing. Also this will expand the club to have more members (I dont know if this is a good thing because if it gets to big then it will be hard to manage but on the other hand this club is all about sharing information and sharing corals so the more the merrier). This can be a win win if it is done right.

The filter socks group buy is a great example, how about group buy on salt?, and other supplies? club coupons, items on specials, sponsor or host a frag swap, Just some ideas ...

Also their is a reason why we don't mind driving 2 hours each way to visit 3 stores in the bay area because they have three things in common, quality of the corals, quantity (great selection) and "pricing". I used to go to Ceasar to see what's new, but when I get there, I don't see anything new beside a couple of new pieces of corals so after a while I stop going altogher.

Anyway just some random though about why I havent been shopping localy ... beside being cash strapped lol

Tom,
Ditto and I'll say what everyone else is thinking. Why wasn't there an invitation sent out to North Coast Reefers?

You guys are more than welcome to approach lynn with any of those suggestions. I love to answer all of your questions but I don't think that reef central is the place to do that. I'll post something up on the northcoast reefers site.

Theres a Northcoast reefers site different than this one???? Bob I think maybe she does not see us members supporting her so she is trying to get some new customers. To be honest when was the last time any of us bought corals there. I personally don't blame her. After all she did put a big sign on the door so anyone that came in could see it and it says all are welcome. So if we were to come by we would see it. She might be afraid Northcoast reefers will take business away?

if they're losing buissness to online, it's more than likely because their prices are ridiculous! Even with the 20% disc (which i no longer recieve) your still gonna spend $20-30 more than what you would online, depending on what your buying of course. The last time I was in there they had a Derasa clam for like $50....at Ocean Treasures they had em for $25. They're selling sailfin tangs for $30-40....i got one for a customer at Northbay for $19!! If Lynn is sooo worried about losing buissness... lowering prices would be a good place to start.

Hey Jake I agree prices are high but I think I would rather buy livestock from Ceasers than Northbay any day. P.s. why don't you get a discount you are a member of Northbay reefers what gives?

Prices are high because there is no competition up here, they basically have Cloverdale to Santa Rosa to Petaluma. Northbay's a joke when it comes to corals but GREAT prices for fish compared to Caesar's. I don't understand why all of a sudden they want to work with the club (meetings held there etc?). I thought that would have been done along time ago being new to this. I guess business is hurting and this was a new venue that was never really tapped into. Weird, in the San Jose area's the owners go to swaps and hold them at their store. Is Lynn (don't know her) going to do such things?

Ceaser's has NEVER donated anything to the club for the raffles, and Lynn's never been to one of our meetings...at least not since i've been around.

Dale- once Lynn found out i was doing maintenance she stopped giving me the discount. even though i've spent thousands of dollars there over the years.....and was a member of the club for years before i started doing maintenence. it's cool though. they dont get anymore of my money....or the clubs for that matter, at least not for raffle items.

OK so I have watched this thread develop and tried to stay out of it but I can't. First of all this is not the place for this discussion but here it goes anyway. Is this Jakes reef club or is it the Northbay Reefers. Burning bridges with the LFS is a bad thing. I do not think you speak for the whole club when you say that they won't get any club money. Why are you so angry?? Especially when nobody from the store has been part of the discussion. Caeasar's should not have to help you with your budding maintenance business by giving you a discount. Especially when they have there own service dept. I think if i was a new business I would try to build good relationships with the LFS's. That only makes sense. Caesars has donated stuff in the past. All the props for my presentation were donated by the store.
