Melanarus wrasse that loves nori (vid)

I have a melanarus wrasse that loves to get down on some nori. I made a video as proof. Is he a weirdo?? I didn't think these wrasses would even recognize nori as food, but he loves it.

Sorry about the brown sand. This tank is only 2.5 months old and is going through the diatom phase.

I recently started feeding Nori because of an angel I added and was surprised when my Melanurus and C. luteovittitus started munching on the Nori immediately. Only then did the angel come over and join in.

My Male C. Solarensis (Tri-Color/Red Headed Solon Fairy Wrasse) always eats nori for some reason. Doesn't eat live algae that I put in there though (my foxface and flame angel loved the flame algae I tied in there for them last night)

Mine melanurus loves it too. It's like candy to him. All my fish seem to love it. Rip it violently from the clip lol

Ha! Well I put up the video thinking I had an oddball fish, when it turns out everyone else's fish does the same thing. I guess we can file nori under normal wrasse diet :crazy1:

I put nori on a clip and no one touches it but my emeralds and snails... Mel Wrasse, Kole, and clowns ignore it.

Good to know that they at least like some algae. Maybe they can be trained for green too. I want to know additional fish which I can feed live from the scrubbers.

holy moly that fire shrimp is brave in there with all those wrasse.

Only two likely to get them are the melanurus and the claudia. The shrimp were there first and so far they don't look at them as food. Fingers crossed but if I have to choose I'll keep through wrasse. :-)

Add my melanurus o the list of eating nori. He will eat so much, it looks like it's stomach's going to explode.
