Melanurus Wrasse spitting out food

He is very good at finding bits of food on the sandbed, but he seems to spit out the food immediately!

He does this for hours. Constantly putting food in his mouth and spitting it out into little pieces.

I am feeding him Sera Marine Granules

In my experiences, Melanarus wrasse prefer fresh foods like mysis shrimp and krill (small or shredded).

The food might be too big for him. I would try some Mysis shrimp as mention above. Also may try some flake food. I have had good success with fish on New Life Spectrum pellets.

It's either too large for the fish, or just not that tasty.

Mine does this with pieces that are too large. He normally tears it up and swallows it eventually, but he might bite it and spit it out a few times before he gets a mouth-sized bite torn off.

Well considering i have NEVER seen him NOT spit out the food, i am guessing its just not that tasty to him as he would eventually get around to some small pieces after dissentigrating so many pellets with his mouth.

I will buy some mysis tomorrow and update you guys! Thank you!
