Cool video as usual Marc! Thanks for sharing it.

I feel kinda dirty now though, like I wont be able to preach Sunday. Are those two married? ;)

The female is 9 years old now. She's one of my first fish. The male is over 3 years old. They are as they should be. ;)

My maroons have not laid any eggs that I could see since I got them. I guess it's possible that they lay them out of sight though right?

Clownfish take a while to "get in the mood", depends a lot on their personalities and their initial age. I've heard anywhere from 6 months to a couple of years before a couple is ready to lay eggs.

My female is somewhat agressive and I would think she would be mating with anything that got too close to her! Maybe she is too busy juggling 3 anemones and guarding her 4' x 4' domain?

 RevHtree that was great!!

i've had mine together for 3-5yrs i think...prolly 3-4 and NOTHING :( i'm waiting for them to get "in the mood" as i want to view or tape it like melev did. that is one reason i got clown fish...they mate regularly and are paired up easily. mine were pretty stinking small when i got them though. i'll have to go back through my records and see when i got them for sure.

any idea when they will get it on :D they should be married by now i'd think :D

meleve they lay every 14days??? consistently in your tank?

IIRC, Gold Stripe Maroons have to be 5 years old to be sexually mature.

Yes, they've been laying eggs for over two years now. And in all that time, I've only seen ONE, and that is correct: ONE, clownfish fry swimming in the water late at night. The Bengaii is a nocturnal hunter, and as they release they are consumed. Obviously other corals in the tank can feed at night too, but to see that one fry swimming for a few seconds one late night was kinda neat. It was in my flashlight's beam, and then it was gone. It looked like a little comma-shaped guy, and then the flow took it away.

how old to ocellaris have to be?? i just searched through my records. the female had a partner before but he died a long time back. i got a new clown (now the male) and the earliest pic i could find is March 12, 2003!! they have been together for over 3yrs! congrats to them  i'm gonna see if i can figure out when i got the female. IIRC she is one of the original fish from 01 when i started.

here they are as babies...not sure if that is the 1st day w/ the male in there or not.

Ocellaris don't take nearly as long to get around to breeding. I can't recall the exact time, so I'd better not say anything on that. TippyToeX would know, I bet.

They have been together for three years, but how long have they been in the current system? They thrive off consistency for breeding (fed at the same times, lights on and off and the same times, no changes in corals/rock placement, etc).

There are some tricks to help them along too if you want to know. They have a host? Or area they clean and call home?

look at this you just mention Tippy's name and he comes to you :D thanks!

been in a 58gal tank since June of 04. i moved it last year to a new apt so in the current place since July of 06 1yr.

feed close the the same time
lights on a timer so off and on at the same time

i changed some corals around when the clams died. moved them and put a couple corals in it's place..since then not much.

tricks?? please share

no host :( they like my brain pretty well at night though.

they can clean a lot of the lower rock work next to the sand and other spots

thanks for the help tippy. hope to learn more soon
