Duncans are cool and since you like to feed your corals, you will have a blast with them. They are total pigs. I just got some Wild Orchid Duncans from UltimateFrags.

Are there different kinds of Duncans, or is that just a name given to it? These pretty names for common corals sure make them sound more valuable. ;)

As far as I know there is just Duncanosommia axifuga (sp? from the top of my head).

I relocated mine and they opened up again (have a pic but having trouble getting from camera for some reason).

Let's see yours when you get it in there.

I have the "electric blue hermit crab" like yours and generally run around 80 and have had him for 3 years. If you can figure out what happened, try another, they are too awesome not to have!!

Believe they are from Marshall Islands.

Actually there are different morphs of Duncans. The two most common are the ORA and Aussie, which when placed side-by-side, clearly have different polyps. The ORA has much fatter and shorter "tentacles" than the Aussie version.

The "Wild Orchid" have the Aussie structure but purple tentacles.

The best duncans came from Julian Sprung "Back in the day", i am pretty sure these are the same ones ORA has as well.

Nick, I'll have to check. Thanks for offering to help.

Here are a couple of pictures from tonight.

The RBTAs are really hogging up the whole tank.

They are beautiful though, but with the tank being so small, they dominate the entire system.

I moved some Fungia babies into the nano. There are three on the stony skeleton, and perhaps in the milder flow they will do better than my main reef.

Two future additions that are currently in quarantine:

The tank really stays very stable and doesn't need much cleaning, with it tied into the main reef's sump. I clean the front glass maybe once a week, usually just to get the bubbles out of my line of sight since some stick to the front angled glass.

Each night I'm squirting in 2 or 3ml of thawed fish food (mini mysis and cyclop-eeze). I never feed the anemones. Those little clowns love their home, but I've not seen them feed the RBTAs either.

Man Mark those rbta's are looking awesome. On the third pic are those orange and blue palys?

The zoanthids are the large polyped kind, and the centers are a bright red. You can see them in this picture as well (along with a mini carpet anemone).

I like the new addition!

What kind of goby is that in the pic with the fungia. Sorry if this is answered somewhere else in the thread. I was too lazy to search for it.

It is one of the three I brought back from the ocean during our Gulf Collection trip last summer. They are fun to watch, and they love to eat coralline when I scrape it off the walls of the tank.

Two shots of the Duncan. It is huge! Probably 2.5" in diameter.

And another of the new teardrop Maxima

Wow!! That is awesome! I just read through the thread. How long have you had the RBTA? I've had one for about 3 weeks now, mine was bleached when I got it but is starting to come around with good lighting and water. I think I'll freak if mine gets that large too quickly.

Anyway as always great looking tank and amazing pics! My wife loves those mini-carpets. (Ok so do I lol)
