Your original 29 is what inspired me to start an aquapod.

Now you go and do this...

Now I'm just gonna have to get out the saw & sheets of acrylic.

:D

I think you should. Show me how it's done. ;)

Nah you're doing fine as is.

Besides I'm a missing the one crucial element to a reef tankover...

A house to fit to my liking.

Untill then maybe a Red Sea Max or 28g JBJ is next in my arsenal. That depends on how quickly I sell my ex FW setup.

hey melev, i was looking for a thread on your 2G pico, i havent found it yet, however i was wondering how casper is doing? do you think you will eventually have to put him in a larger tank? i really really want to put up an exact same setup you have there. However i want mine to be completly zoa dominated. 3 questions. 1, could i do antic only if i was to chose to do so? or would it not support growth. 2. Where online do you order acrylic, or do you go to a local hadware store. 3. What kind of sealent do you use, could i just use something i pick up at walmart?

Marc,

you are the reason i am addicted to reefing, THANKS A LOT! (you should be paying me some kind of child support but for reefing, "Reefing support"??

before i built my first system, i read your whole thread on the 280 and i was hooked!

i am now in the middle of a 2 X 24g Build, one will be a Nem dedicated tank and the other SPS. i think i will do only RBTA's but do you think i can also put a carpet (not a mini) in there too?

you are an inspiration and another great asset to this site and reefers, THANK YOU!!

Awesome tanks!

Cheers (Crown Royal n' Coke) :D

Casper developed a strange fungus on her tail, and she had to be put in a hospital tank along with her mate. The two of them were in a 10g tank on my counter for nearly 6 months, but whatever infected them eventually did them in. I tried just about everything anyone could suggest to help them heal, and documented those months here on RC. The Pico was taken down for a duration, but it was resurrected as my Suncoral Tank about 1.5 years ago.

Actinics look really good, but I doubt you'd get any growth at all. At the very least, a daylight bulb should light the tank for 3 or 4 hours a day while you are away. Be very aware of temperature issues, as it is very difficult to keep this much water temperature-stable. Topping off is critical too, and you'll need to do so probably twice a day of the salinity will go up rapidly.

The acrylic came from a local plastics supplier. Regal Plastics and Allied Plastics are both in my area, and they sell the solvent Weld-On #4 to glue the cube together. You'll need a needle tip applicator to apply it, because it is like water. On my site, there is a "tools" page, and that is what you'll want to read over before you proceed.

 - Reefing support. You stay away from my reefing funds. :uzi:

The issue you may come across is that anemones wage chemical wars with one another. I don't think you can put a carpet with BTAs. Look up 'alleopathy'.

A tank full of BTAs can be very pretty. I saw one of the older TOTM was a tank full of Roses.

Cheers.

Marc, are you really a stripper? How did you get into that?

Like any other stripper, I got into it for the money. ;)

Mykel, is that a gorilla crab?

That is the infamous "I really wish I knew what kind of crab came in on my live rock and I couldn't bring myself to kill it" crab... possibly a "Stone" crab for all the good that does... might maybe could be Eriphia sp. but every crab ID site I've read says things like "Yep, that's a crab, should probably get that out of your reef tank." no matter what they look like :sigh:

I caught the little F@(ker stealing food from my hitchhiker black sun polyp, but he was too fast for me... polyp is fine and still extending each night, but I don't want anything to steal from my corals!!

I've got about 4 hitchhiker crabs in my system right now (that I know of)... the one in the photo is the only one with fat claws... one has a dark brown/black carapace with grayish hairs all over and thin orange claws, and two (same type of crab, but different sizes) are mottled/striped blueish-blackish and white with thin black claws... I've seen all of them eat algae, but I'm now convinced that ALL crabs are opportunistic predators and should be kept away from the reef

I'm sure I'll grow to regret ever letting the red-eyed devil in my tank... I may try to capture all crabs and move them when I get my sump set up... Might just trap and hammer them if I get to worried before sump is up and running

woops... sorry for the hijack Marc!!

More photos of the Nano please :D

Oh no!!! Not the dreaded frog crab :doomed:

 I need to edit out one of the legs on it's left side, so it looks even MORE like a frog

Uh, I mean: MoR Nano Plz ;)
