Memorial Day, it's supposed to be more than franks and burgers

Words don't exist to convey what has been given up by brave individuals and their loved ones in the interest of your freedom and safety. A little respect and gratitude are in order here, and if you can't make time this weekend to display it, well, you simply don't deserve to enjoy the freedom and liberty that this country is still able to offer.
Every American soldier writes a blank check to their country for "up to, and including my life". It's up to you to make them feel like you're worth it.

Thank you DgenR8. I was just going to start a thread explaining what Memorial Day was about. It was originally called Decoration Day and Patriotic Americans would put an American Flag up on their house. (some of us fly the flag all the time)
It is one day we rightfully and respectifully honor our soldiers who were our protectors who gave their life for this country. Not an easy thing to do and I know first hand as a few of them died in my arms. It is something that never leaves you or especially their family. I honor their sacrifice.

To me as an American it is one of our most important National Holidays.

Yes we have sales, bar be cues and parties, but it would be nice to also remember the brave people who are not here partying with us so we can enjoy this freedom.
