Meredithi (Personifer) Angels

Nice Scribble Angel. That is actually a really cool pick with the Meredithi in the back ground. How is it acting?

Thanks trigger. The Scribble is more active. The Personifer/Meredithi just likes to swim in one area, but doesnt move much unless it needs too. Surprisingly, I thought the Personifer would be hiding under that large rock, but he is out in the open just hanging out. They have both nipped at the large rock many times. When I get close, the Scribble is the one that comes running to me while the other just sits back. I dont think the Personifer is shy, but rather has a "doesnt care" attitude. The reason why I say this is because when I put my hand in, the Scribble runs off quickly and hides while the Personifer just sits there and doesnt care if I get close to him. This is just the first day, so I have some monitoring to perform. That way I can give a more accurate answer.

By the way, based on what I could see in the pic, the personifer/meredithi has an all yellow tail thus it is a Meredithi. Regardless, it is still a beauty from what I can tell.

From all of yours guys reading, I have came to that conclusion also. Im going to ask the source I got it from why he thinks its a Personifer since this was what was advertised.

Your fish is 120% meredethi, they're always called personifers.

Invincible,

How is your Meredithi? Both of mine are still doing ok. The big one is eating something because I see it poop every once in a while but I still havent seen it eat any prepared foods.

I received 2 more smaller (4-5") personifers, both ate everything right out of the bag :) I must have a good source. I didn't know they had a poor reputation.

Quit bragging:)
My smaller fish which I would say is around 4" has ate fine right from the get go. The larger one which is at least 6" just will not look twice at prepared foods.

trigger, I wish I could say the same. Mine didnt make it after the 2nd day. I was very dissapointed. I love this fish so much I am willing to try again at a later time.

Invincible,

I am sorry to hear that. They are deffinately a trick fish.

Zemuron,

I tried live brine and ghost shrimp and it didn't eat them. It would eat the brine but spit it right back out.

try fresh scallops. i have never had a personifer turn one down... other then that, keep trying.

Im trying to get a picky Angel to eat as well. Did you feed the whole scallop, chopped scallop or scallop on the shell?

scallop on the shell is best - it is the freshest :)

what kind of angel

Its a Chrysurus Angel. Its in a Q tank right now with some butterflies and a smalled Imperator Angel. None are fighting. So far I tried, NLS Pellets, Mysis, Flakes, frozen brine shrimp, live brine shrimp, nori, live caulerpa, clam on the half shell and frozen plankton. Of course all the other fish are enjoying it except the Chrysurus Angel. It seem interested in the flakes and looked at it very closely but did not attempt to eat it :(

How is everyone's Meridithi doing? Invincible, triggerfish, etc....

Has anyone ever seen a young adult (<5") that has the characterisitic yellow spots?

My smaller one had yellow spots and it was only about 3" maybe 4" max. Unfortunetly I lost the smaller angel a few days ago when my big RBTA decided to spawn. The big one is still going strong and finally started to eat prepared foods. It has become the dominant fish in the tank.

you wont see any with yellow spots or blue face unless they are 6+" The smallest one i have seen is 6" and it was a big 6 :)

I think Triggerfish said his was under 4" and had the yellow spots...

I saw a ~5" personifer angel at my LFS. Owner insists it is a male. He has what looks like the very beginnings of the yellow spots. Will these turn into those bright yellow spots or is this one of the specimens where the ones that get bright spots get them bright and the ones that dont have those spots only have really faint ones like on the one I am seeing?

The start of the spots doesn't mean its a full male yet... A FULL male will be around 6". A changing male and a full male is not the same :)
