Mesh Mod's 2009; Still worth it?

I've been looking about for updates on mesh modded skimmers and am not coming up with a whole lot.
So, for those of you who have modded your skimmer, was it worth it? Would you still recommend the mod? How long ago did you mod your pump?
I found where one modder changed back to the needle wheel after about 10 months of mod use. He felt the skimmer wasn't pulling enough water through with the mod.
Others have reported anywhere from and increased Watt draw on their pumps, to no change. So, please chime in folks!

it really depends on how well the mesh wheel is made by you or another . A fair amount of people have switched to like the ATi purple wheel etc . Just because mesh do require more "work" .

if you dont mind cleaning your pump once a month and putting in a new mesh wheel 3 months ( not saying this happens to everyone ) then mesh is the way to go supposidly.

i got rid of my mesh mod and put in a pinwheel.

my mesh mod was jacked up from the start (causing drag) so the pinwheel really made a big difference for me.
