did the bulb light up?

LOL i was going to ask the same thing but I though It was too mean.I was wrong it's funny!:lmao:

sorry Jordan

wow... looks like you took a trip to the wild side there. glad your ok, just remember next time - unplug the power cable first ;)

I can only do so because we know he is alright. I just know how hardcore this guy is about this stuff, which is the reason in the first place he wanted to fire it up, he was too excited to wait!!!

Oh BTW Jordan, as a get well card of sorts......I found a couple of pics you can use for your new Avatar.........Take care buddy!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I didn't think anything could be more painful than the price of the lights! :p

John: I'll be there if anyone wants me to talk about it.

Mike: I agree! I did some reasearch and found out that the power was about 1/4 of getting struck by lightning.

beerguy: I guess I was shocked then. Thanks.

Brooke and Ed: Don't worry the burn melted my nerve endings and I can't feel anything. :)

Bryan: I'll be shipping out your toadstool today :)

Mark: I'll be alright once I put in the GFCI, I guess John runs the same reflectors 10" above his 180. If it looks like it will be a problem I'll either trim it down like we were talking about or trade it for an HQI set-up.

Doug and Ed: Very funny! When I finally got up and turned around it actaully did fire. :p I was a bit too distracted to observe the color much... ;)

Aaarrrggg: As I was loading into the ambulece I told my mom to get the camera so I could post the pics on RC. :D The only one my mom took though was the blurry one. She had never used my camera before (as you can see :p)

ok, ok, so did you "see the light?" or anything crazy? ;)

Also, dude, you are hardcore - you about die and your first thought is to have it on RC - WHILE you are being carried away into the ambulance. ha!

Wow... I'm glad you're ok Jordan. That's an insane experience and better be the only time! Quite scary.

Hope you recover quickly.

Glad all is well now!!
Hate to break it ya but depending on how it happened, a GFCI may NOT have prevented this. So just be extra careful next time.
PS I did the same thing when I got my ballast and bulbs in, and I still dont have a proper reflector :)

Here was a pic of my thumb when I got zaped about 4 months ago. This was before I cleaned it all up. I was so amouzed at my burn I had to stop and take a pic before clening it out, and wrapping it in electrical tape for the rest of the day.
This was at the new Valero on Antelope and Walarga when I was still building it.

Mine didn't hurt either
My theory is if you don't want it to hurt then you better burn it good the first time..

I'm surprised Waterkeeper hasn't posted a witticism yet:

"But what about the lightbulb? Is it okay?!" ;)

Holy fricken smokes dude! Add me to the list of people that are very glad you are ok bud.
Thanks for humbling yourself to share your misfortune in hopes of making folks aware of the very real dangers.
Keep your eyes peeled Jordan, your an intergral, irreplaceable part to the dynamics of this club!

In case your parents don't want you reefing anymore, tell them that the Great Neptune spared you, so you could continue to spread the glory of his beloved kingdom :)

Glad your okay. Can't wait to see your scars in person. Just curious, how's the hair? Next time just do what I do. Go ahead and touch the glass part and wipe it off later with alcohol. Or put on some gloves.

Actually, I dont know if he was in all that much trouble... when halides start up, they start the bulbs with something like 20,000volts if I remember correctly. While that may sting like hell and cause you to react like you were hit with a taser... there is little in the way of amps to actually kill you. I might be wrong on this, and Im sure it depends on the ballast, but he may have just plugged himself into a really large taser.

Pico1 - Wow! I'm glad that you're OK. Seeing the pictures is unbelievable.

Hahnmeister - Can you test this theory on yourself and report back to us? Be sure to have your Mom on standby to snap a picture or two for us.
