metal halide coverage

hi, i am researching for my first reef system, and im considering using mh lighting, but i cant seem to find an answer to this question: what kind of coverage do you get with metal halide pendants?
is there any standard, like 1 for every 3 feet, or what?

It really depends on the reflector that you are using. But, as general rule, I would say 2 X 2 would be safe.

On my 58g (3 feet long) I used 2 175 watt MH.

My old 55 was 4ft long so I had 2 x 250's with Spider reflectors

The Luminarc lll reflectors give awsome coverage.

Rule of thumb is each MH does a good 24"X24". Now with the lumenarc reflectors you can get away with 30-36" of spread.
