metal halide from home depot

Why cant we just buy the metal halide light at home depot and change out the bulbs? can you? how?

as long as the wattage type you want is correct then go ahead. I imagine that the reflectors they come with arent very good though.

If that were true, why don't we all use those halides? That is something I never understood myself. Someone told me though that they are a fire hazard and they will cause your tank to overheat. More so than with Aquatic MH. Interesting.

I think most of them are magnetic ballast though. What most people run on reef tanks are electronic ballasts. This may or may not be the reason. I don't know. It is funny I saw this thread though, I was just on HD web site tonight looking for the same thing. They dont have much listed there though.
